  • CORE JOB SUMMARY
  • The Manager, Nursing and Clinical Education promotes and develops day-to-day management and long-term planning of professional development activities, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multi-disciplinary professional staffs. The Manager, Nursing and Clinical Education enforces professional staff behaviors that facilitate positive relationships among colleagues, physicians, administrators, and other hospital personnel.
  • CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • 2. Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • 3. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements, and to other governing agency regulations, and measuring outcomes against standards.
  • 4. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
  • 5. Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • 6. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing related procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • 7. Accounts for the collection of data to ensure performance improvement and optimal customer service standards.
  • 8. Assures all staff meet mandatory continuing education requirements and yearly hospital-based competencies
  • 9. Provides insight on the department operations to nursing leadership to assist in the development of strategic planning and departmental expansion.
  • 10. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the department and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • PREFERRED EDUCATION:
  • A master’s degree in nursing or a related field, or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), is strongly preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
  • Certification and Licensing:
  • Valid State of Florida RN license required
  • Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Operational Management: Optimizes day-to-day operations and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

Organizational Development: Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness, engagement, and manage change.

Financial Oversight: Knowledge of financial operations and management.

Team Leadership: Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.

Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM: NURSING QUALITY

The Manager of Nursing and Clinical Education, with a departmental focus on Nursing Quality, manages day-to-day activities and long-term planning to advance nursing quality, patient safety, and professional development. This role promotes professional accountability, positive working relationships, and adherence to organizational policies and standards of care.

DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes across the enterprise to identify improvement opportunities and evaluate results.
  • Leads nursing quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational priorities, policies, and standards of care.
  • Integrates quality findings into nursing education, competency development, and staff coaching.
  • Engages staff in shared accountability for quality, patient safety, and professional practice.
  • Communicates quality performance and recommendations to nursing leadership to support operational and strategic planning.
