MTM Transit is proactively building a pipeline of experienced Safety and Training professionals for future business opportunities across our expanding transit and paratransit operations. While contract awards have not yet been finalized, we are seeking qualified leaders interested in joining our talent community and being considered for upcoming opportunities nationwide. Based on anticipated growth, this Evergreen Requisition is intended to identify high-potential candidates for future Manager, Safety & Training positions as new contracts are awarded. This position would be an ONSITE position upon contract award.

Position Summary

The Manager, Safety & Training is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety and training programs that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and employee development. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to drive a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with federal, state, client, and company requirements, and deliver effective training programs across transit and paratransit operations.

Essential Responsibilities

• •Lead and maintain a positive safety culture throughout the operation.
• •Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to support safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• •Implement and support Safety Management System (SMS) programs, plans, and initiatives.
• •Oversee safety incentive programs and monitor performance metrics.
• •Manage Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Management Information System (DAMIS) reporting requirements.
• •Serve as the location Drug Program Manager and ensure compliance with FTA and DOT regulations.
• •Monitor workers' compensation and insurance claims programs, supporting claim resolution and cost containment efforts.
• •Lead local safety committees and support employee engagement in safety initiatives.
• •Deliver classroom, behind-the-wheel, and operational training programs in accordance with contract and company requirements.
• •Ensure new hires meet all required qualifications, including background and motor vehicle screening requirements.
• •Maintain, review, and update safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
• •Investigate vehicle, passenger, employee, and workplace incidents, determine preventability, identify trends, and implement corrective training measures.
• •Support internal, client, corporate, and regulatory audits and inspections.
• •Collaborate with leadership to develop and facilitate safety meetings and educational programs.
• •Provide leadership, coaching, and development to safety department personnel.
• •Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• •High School Diploma or GED.
• •Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• •Minimum of five (5) years of transit or paratransit safety management experience.
• •Previous leadership or management experience.
• •Thorough knowledge of ADA, FTA, DOT, and related regulatory requirements.
• •Experience implementing safety programs and conducting investigations.
• •Valid driver's license.
• •Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and DOT physical, where required.

Preferred

• •Experience in a union environment.
• •Safety certifications related to transportation, occupational safety, training, SMS, or risk management.
• •Experience serving as a Drug and Alcohol Program Manager.
• •Experience supporting transit startup operations and new contract implementations.
• •Experience conducting classroom and behind-the-wheel training.

• •Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
• •Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence safety culture.
• •Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• •Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
• •Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
• •Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple departments.

Travel

• •Local and overnight travel may be required.
• •Candidates may be required to operate a company or rental vehicle in accordance with company policy and motor vehicle standards.

Ranges may vary based on the job's location, required state/city minimum wage, & contract needs . We offer competitive pay that varies based on individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Small Division : $47,920 - $100,680

Medium Division: $55,920 - $100,680

Large Division: $65,440 - $117,840
