NETGEAR is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the development of the Enterprise Access Point product line. This role is responsible for managing and mentoring a high-performing engineering team while driving the delivery of robust, high-quality Wi-Fi 7 hardware and software solutions.
You will work closely with product management, systems, QA, and operations teams to deliver enterprise-grade wireless products that meet performance, reliability, and schedule commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & People Leadership
Lead and manage a team of firmware and/or systems engineers developing Wi-Fi access points
Provide technical direction, architecture guidance, and design review leadership
Mentor engineers, support career growth, and build a strong ownership culture
Program Execution
Own execution plans, schedules, and deliverables for assigned product releases
Drive on-time delivery across multiple parallel development tracks
Identify risks early and proactively drive mitigation plans
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Product Management to translate requirements into technical execution
Work with QA, Systems, and Sustaining teams to ensure product quality and field readiness
Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing and production readiness
Quality & Reliability
Ensure best practices in design, code quality, reviews, and test coverage
Drive root-cause analysis for defects and field issues
Champion reliability, performance, and security across the product lifecycle
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
13+ years of experience in networking or embedded systems development
3+ years of experience managing engineering teams
Strong experience with Wi-Fi / wireless networking technologies
Proven ability to lead cross-functional development efforts
Skills
Strong C programming on Linux/Embedded Systems
Embedded Linux exposure / Linux networking Stack
Networking protocols TCP/IP, VPN, NAT, Firewall Exposure
System diagnostics and packet analysis
Standards compliance (RFCs related to routing, DHCP, IP, ICMP)
Debugging encrypted traffic paths
Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi 6 / Wi-Fi 7 (802.11ax / 802.11be) access point development
Strong understanding of embedded Linux, wireless drivers, and networking protocols
Experience taking hardware products through EVT/DVT/PVT to mass production
Familiarity with regulatory certifications (FCC, CE, IC)
Experience with cloud-managed wireless networking platforms
