Northrop Grumman is hiring for a Software Engineering Manager 2 , located in Huntsville, AL. Software Management responsibilities include day-to-day communications, performance assessment and feedback, career counseling, professional development, employee succession planning, employee rewards and recognition, conflict resolution and resolving personnel issues for approximately 10-15 direct reports and an overall department organizational size of approximately 80 engineers. This role will have an average of 25% management responsibilities and 75% program responsibilities.

  • Operate in a team environment and collaborate across the organization as required to accomplish the team goals
  • Work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, product managers, and program senior leadership team
  • Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.
  • Support Proposal Preparation, Review and Approval Process.
  • Develop and Perform to a Strategic Plan including multi-year sales and marketing strategic plans that identify key products and markets that will enable the company to achieve its goals of growth and profitability.
  • Build and execute marketing and communications plans to support the specific opportunities.
  • Regularly report to the company’s Management Team the status of all major Advanced Programs opportunities assigned, and the status toward achieving the awards plan

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelors’ degree in Software Engineering or STEM discipline; 6 years of experience with a Masters’ degree in Software Engineering or STEM discipline or 4 years with a PHD in Software Engineering or STEM discipline.
  • Experience also requires any combination of Systems Engineering, Integration and Test engineering disciplines accompanied by high proficiency in technical problem solving to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring
  • Must possess an Active secret clearance
  • Previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles
  • Working knowledge of Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, processes, and tools
  • Business Acumen: The ability to apply knowledge, insights and understanding of business and financial concepts, tools, and processes to the benefit of program decisions, actions, and performance
  • Demonstrated customer interface skills
  • Demonstrated large-team organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated executive communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
  • Issue & Problem Resolution: The ability to identify and address program impacts through a systematic, proactive, approach to issue and problem resolution that identifies, communicates, monitors, and promptly resolves conflicts across all levels of the program
  • Resources: The ability to plan for, identify, estimate, cost, acquire, schedule, and retire resources needed to satisfy program requirements within organizational constraints
  • Resource planning and staffing to plan

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering or a STEM discipline and/or MBA
  • Proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and/or functional environments
  • Experience effectively leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer - Level 7 Consultant, Mission Modeling Simulation, located in Chandler, AZ . You will serve as an enterprise‑level technical authority for modeling, simulation, and analysis of missile and interceptor systems. In this highly senior role, you will define Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) strategy, lead cross‑program mission and campaign analyses, and provide independent technical assessments that guide portfolio‑level decisions, investment strategies, and future capability development. You will represent the organization as a recognized expert to customers and external stakeholders and will shape the evolution of our mission engineering and MS&A capabilities.

This position is 100% on site in Chandler, AZ (strongly preferred). Remote candidates may also be considered

You will work with various engineering disciplines (systems, GNC, seeker/sensor, software, mission, integration & test, etc.) and business development to:

  • Define and lead enterprise‑level MS&A strategy, including digital engineering and model‑based approaches across multiple programs and product lines
  • Lead cross‑program mission engineering and campaign‑level operations analyses to inform capability roadmaps and investment decisions
  • Provide independent technical assessments, red/blue teaming, and risk evaluations of architectures, requirements, and operational concepts
  • Represent the organization as a technical authority in customer engagements, gate reviews, and external technical forums, shaping customer requirements and CONOPS through analysis‑backed insights
  • Drive innovation in MS&A tools, frameworks, and methodologies, including advanced visualization, real‑time simulation, and digital twin implementations
  • Sponsor and oversee collaborations with other disciplines and external partners (government labs, universities, industry) in advanced MS&A and mission analysis
  • Build and sustain communities of practice, standards, and training for MS&A; mentor multiple teams and develop succession plans for technical leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Active US Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering; Physics; Applied Mathematics; Computer Science) and 16 years of related experience in systems engineering, modeling and simulation, or operations analysis; or master’s degree and 14 years ; or Ph.D. and 12 years
  • Recognized subject‑matter expertise in mission‑level operations analysis, campaign‑level modeling, and system‑of‑systems simulation
  • Demonstrated impact on enterprise‑level or portfolio‑level decisions through MS&A (architecture trades, capability roadmaps, investment choices)
  • Extensive experience providing independent technical assessments
