Our offices are led by leaders who know their local market, back their teammates, and put the customer first.

Role Purpose

The Managing Director leads the profitable growth of the North West hub. This leader is accountable for both growth and margin, leads the Branch Directors, and turns central strategy into clear plans for each office and market, using the support services around the business to help teams deliver.

This is a growth role with financial accountability. The Managing Director delivers more customers, stronger retention, and a healthy margin, with high standards of work and customer outcomes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Profitable growth. Own the growth and margin results for the offices, balancing investment in growth with discipline on cost, so that growth is profitable.
  • Margin management. Own the budget and margin position, review performance regularly, and make clear decisions on resourcing, cost, and investment within company frameworks.
  • Retention and new business. Hold Branch Directors to account for retention and new business, with equal focus on keeping the customers we already serve and winning new ones.
  • Strategy. Work in conjunction with central strategy, turn it into a clear plan for each office and market, and bring local insight back to help shape it.
  • Support services. Make full use of the support services around the business, working closely with Regional Operations, QA and Claims teams to build capability and free teams to focus on customers.
  • Leadership and accountability. Select, develop, and coach Branch Directors, set clear expectations, hold regular performance conversations, and plan for succession.
  • Culture. Set the tone across the offices, bring teams together, and develop and recognize good people.
  • Focus on quality customer outcomes. Judge the offices by what happens for the customer, and set standards for quality of work, compliance, and customer outcomes.

Skills

  • Integrity. Builds trust with customers, teammates, and colleagues across the business, and does the right thing even when no one is looking.
  • Commercial judgment. Balances growth ambition with financial discipline, and makes sound decisions on investment, cost, and margin.
  • Strategic leadership. Turns central strategy into local action, and brings people with them.
  • Hustle. Sets the pace in the market and is visible to customers and teammates across the offices.
  • Grit. Holds difficult conversations and stays the course through setbacks.
  • Excel and win. Sets high standards for results, work quality, and customer outcomes, and brings the teams together to win.
  • Culture. An individual who is people and teammate focused, with their core values aligning to making Brown & Brown the best broker to work at.
