MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - 2nd Shift

Position Summary

HYDAC is currently seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our Schaumburg division. This position will work primarily on 2nd shift and will play an important role in developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes.

The Manufacturing Engineer will design and commission manufacturing processes to support New Product Introduction (NPI) , provide technical support to the shop floor, ensure manufacturing and design standards are met, and identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity, quality, and process improvements. This position will also coordinate and exercise functional authority for the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

• •Design, develop, implement, and commission manufacturing processes to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and the successful transition of new products into production.
• •Provide hands-on engineering and technical support to the shop floor, including troubleshooting production issues and developing effective corrective actions.
• •Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness.
• •Identify and implement cost-reduction and continuous improvement opportunities, including improvements to workflow, processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• •Ensure manufacturing processes and practices meet established design, engineering, quality, and manufacturing standards.
• •Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operations.
• •Coordinate project planning, organization, integration, and execution to ensure successful completion of assigned projects.
• •Monitor project progress and communicate project status, issues, and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
• •Maintain engineering documentation, process instructions, and other required records.
• •Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• •Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• •Ability to apply engineering principles, logical and scientific thinking, and mathematical concepts to solve complex technical and manufacturing problems.
• •Knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes, capabilities, and APQP.
• •Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• •Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• •Experience with CAD/CAM software, fixture and tooling design, and knowledge of manufacturing materials.
• •Knowledge of SolidWorks, Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel; experience with Minitab is a plus.
• •Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• •Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, professional publications, business documents, and governmental regulations.
• •Ability to prepare technical reports, business correspondence, procedures, and other written documentation.
• •Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from employees, managers, customers, and other stakeholders.
• •Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to develop effective cross-functional relationships.
• •Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• •Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• •Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• •Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• •Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• •Previous manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment preferred.
• •Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and process development is a plus.
• •Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• •Ability to work effectively with production personnel, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
• •Strong organizational and project management skills.
• •Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.
• •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• •Hands-on approach with the ability to provide support directly on the manufacturing floor.

Schedule

2nd Shift

This position is expected to work on 2nd shift Monday – Friday, 3pm – 11pm and provide engineering support to the manufacturing operation during the assigned shift.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $75,000–$85,000 per year
