POSITION OVERVIEW

Ascend Performance Materials is the premium provider of high-quality chemicals, fibers and plastics. Ascend has global sales and distribution with five manufacturing facilities in the United States.

The primary purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer II is to run the unit safely, reliably, and efficiently. The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for unit operating performance to include production, raw material usage, energy usage, quality, daily performance tacking, troubleshooting and basic unit optimization. The Manufacturing Engineer II adds direct value to the business by driving real-time unit performance in the area.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

Drive unit performance toward operational entitlement for yield, usage, reliability, and quality.

Achieve annual productivity targets through effective unit performance tracking.

Accurately track production losses and drive corrective actions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot and optimize processes based on gaps identified through daily performance monitoring.

Partner with Production Engineering to optimize current processes, implement advanced performance-tracking tools and new technologies, and execute annual productivity plans.

Partner with Process Engineering to initiate process improvements and address technical issues requiring advanced modeling.

Track and categorize daily production losses.

Drive corrective actions in response to KPI and production performance gaps.

Support unit regulatory compliance.

Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) activities originating from unit needs.

Lead or support technical training for operators.

Support production planning, tracking, and closing activities.

Maintain unit Process Safety Information (PSI).

Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate engineering resource.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.

3 – 7 years of relevant work experience.

Strong working knowledge of ASPEN products, heat transfer, hydraulics and related engineering principles.

Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management.

DESIRED CERTIFICATION

Green Belt Certification

REQUIRED SKILLS

Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to innovate and solve complex problems.

Ability and willingness to provide after-hours support

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to perform effectively in a highly dynamic work environment.
