Manufacturing Optimization Engineer III

What You’ll Do
As a Manufacturing Optimization Engineer III, you will help M&M improve manufacturing performance by turning observations, data, and operational needs into practical, sustainable solutions. You will work closely with plant leaders, frontline teams, engineering, maintenance, and the group automation team to strengthen processes, support change, and identify where technology can create measurable value.
- Participate in Gemba walks and evaluate manufacturing operations to identify process gaps, waste, and improvement opportunities.
- Map and improve end-to-end value streams to increase throughput, strengthen material flow, reduce waste, and improve process consistency.
- Lead Lean initiatives, Kaizen events, standard work development, root cause analysis, and other continuous improvement activities.
- Partner with plant managers and operational leaders to build alignment, support change adoption, and sustain improvements over time.
- Evaluate facility layouts, equipment utilization, tooling, work methods, and production processes to recommend practical improvements.
- Identify and scope automation opportunities based on validated operational needs, then collaborate with automation and technical resources through implementation.
- Translate data, observations, and stakeholder feedback into prioritized improvement roadmaps with clear goals, owners, and measurable outcomes.
- Use performance data and manufacturing metrics to guide decisions, track results, and communicate progress.
- Present findings, recommendations, implementation plans, and business impacts to plant and senior leadership.
- Contribute to the EZ Filter baseline project during the first 90 days, helping establish achievable goals, optimize the line layout, and prepare the process for future automation.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement, continuous improvement, manufacturing operations, or manufacturing transformation.
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, standard work, root cause analysis, and waste reduction methods.
- Demonstrated experience implementing process improvements and helping teams adopt operational changes.
- Project management experience with the ability to independently manage priorities and drive work through completion.
- Experience supporting automation-related initiatives by defining process requirements, validating benefits, or coordinating with technical resources.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence and build trust across operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams.
- Ability to work onsite in Fort Worth, spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, and travel approximately 10% to 15% between company locations, vendors, and occasional trade shows.
What Wil Set You Apart
- Experience in automotive, sheet metal, metals, HVAC, or a similar industrial manufacturing environment.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean certification, or equivalent continuous improvement experience.
- Experience facilitating Kaizen events, change management activities, or cross-functional improvement workshops.
- Exposure to automation, robotics, Industry 4.0, or digital manufacturing tools.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Power BI, digital factory modeling, simulation tools, or data visualization.
- Experience translating operational needs into clear process requirements for engineering, automation, maintenance, or IT partners.
- Practical experience with preventative maintenance programs.
