Role Description:
The Marketing Automation Manager will execute our integrated marketing automation programs that drive pipeline creation and support YoY growth goals. This role will own the technical build-out of workflows, campaigns, and lead routing that ladder to our demand gen growth mandate. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, detail-oriented, data-driven, and analytical, with a strong technical understanding of marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, and funnel metrics.
In this role, you will be responsible for executing automation programs that support integrated demand generation initiatives: from inbound and ABM segments to events and webinars. You'll ensure leads flow through the right journeys, get actioned at the right time, and are tracked accurately so we can measure what's working and optimize for pipeline impact.
You'll work within frameworks and strategy set by cross-functional leaders and be responsible for building, QA'ing, and maintaining the automation that runs them at scale. You'll partner closely with Campaign Management, RevOps, and Sales to keep our tech stack (HubSpot, Salesforce, 6sense, Goldcast, ads platforms) working together, and to use funnel data to identify where automation or routing changes could drive better conversion rates and pipeline sourced/influenced results.
Big picture: you'll be the execution backbone that turns demand generation strategy into repeatable, measurable automation. This role reports to the Director, Digital Marketing.
What you’ll do:
Build and execute marketing automation programs that drive pipeline growth
Build complex, multi-touch nurture programs segmented by prospect type, journey stage, account attributes, and engagement. Include segment-specific programs, ABM account-based workflows, and clearly defined enrollment, suppression, re-enrollment, exit, and sales-handoff logic designed cross-functionally.
Build, QA, and maintain expert-level HubSpot forms with progressive profiling, dependent and hidden fields, conditional logic, dynamic requirements, and consent management; troubleshoot submission, deduplication, and Salesforce sync issues.
Build responsive HubSpot landing pages using Design Manager, reusable modules, smart content, personalization, and A/B testing to support demand generation campaigns.
Build and maintain complex, multi-branch HubSpot workflows for lead scoring, lifecycle management, routing, and campaign membership; architect, test, and troubleshoot to prevent automation conflicts, loops, duplicate actions, and unintended field overwrites.
Operationalize Salesforce Campaign tracking through HubSpot: manage campaign hierarchies, Campaign Member creation, standardized member statuses, "Responded" logic, UTM capture, and automated campaign association for accurate attribution and reporting.
Build and send transactional customer-facing emails regarding fulfillment and product updates.
Execute lead routing logic and maintain feedback loops with Sales to identify lead quality signals and gaps.
Manage email compliance and deliverability across ShipBob's global markets, including GDPR consent and preference management, CASL, data residency requirements, and regional suppression rules.
Maintain integrations between HubSpot, 6sense, Salesforce, WordPress, Goldcast, RevenueHero, and other marketing/sales tools.
Manage inbound requests from the team to ensure timely, accurate execution of workflows, campaigns, emails, and other automation builds.
Report, analyze, and drive pipeline improvement
Build and maintain campaign dashboards and funnel metrics (MQL-to-SQL conversion, pipeline sourced, pipeline influenced) showing performance against benchmarks.
Analyze campaign performance run-over-run to dissect what worked, what didn't, and why across email, forms, and workflows.
Identify automation bottlenecks and routing improvements by analyzing where leads stall or get rejected; work cross-functionally to remove blockers.
Coordinate with RevOps to optimize 6sense account scoring, prioritization, and orchestration in workflows.
Be the team's go-to expert on marketing automation best practices: surface trends and flag underperforming campaigns with recommendations for optimization.
Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
3-5 years of related professional experience, including 2+ years of building and executing marketing automation programs in HubSpot.
Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Business, or a similar field.
Practical, day-to-day experience leveraging AI tools across marketing automation disciplines to increase productivity and velocity: content generation for nurtures, workflow optimization, personalization testing, campaign analysis, and integration with HubSpot, Salesforce, and other stack tools.
Track record of executing marketing automation builds that support measurable campaign results.
Working knowledge of Salesforce and how CRM/marketing automation systems should integrate.
Expertise in global compliance requirements (GDPR, CASL, CAN-SPAM) and regional email deliverability best practices.
"No lead left behind" mentality; you treat missed deadlines or execution errors as revenue left on the table.
Comfort working with funnel and pipeline metrics (MQL-to-SQL conversion, pipeline sourced, pipeline influenced) to identify automation and routing improvements.
Basic understanding of ABM strategy and how account-based workflows differ from traditional lead nurtures.
Excellent attention to detail and comfort working inside someone else's framework (lead scoring, attribution model) without needing to own the strategy.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Solid written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Effective time management and ability to juggle multiple stakeholder requests (Marketing, RevOps, Sales, Product, Customer Support).
Desire to deliver the best experience for current and future customers.
