BBB, Greater Maryland

Location: Hybrid—three days in the office and two days working from home, plus local event and vendor travel

Classification: Non-Exempt

Are you the person who keeps things organized, notices the small details, and jumps in to help? Do you enjoy a mix of office work, interacting with people, and bringing events to life?

BBB, Greater Maryland is looking for a Marketing & Events Assistant to help keep our daily operations running smoothly and our community events welcoming and well organized. From preparing Accredited Business welcome packets to greeting event attendees, your work will support the businesses, consumers, and partners we serve.

What You’ll Do:

This is a hands-on support role with variety throughout the week. You’ll:

Keep communications moving: Assemble and mail welcome packets, certificates, decals, invoices, and promotional materials; research updated contact information and follow up on returned mail.

Keep the details accurate: Update records, enter event registrations and attendee information, maintain spreadsheets, and assist with everyday administrative tasks.

Help events come together: Prepare signage, giveaways, registration materials, and supplies; pack, load, transport, set up, and break down event materials.

Create a welcoming experience: Staff registration and information tables, greet attendees, manage check-in, and connect people with the right BBB team member.

Support the team: Complete local vendor pickups and deliveries, monitor supplies, make professional calls, send follow-up emails, and assist with special projects.

Throughout your work, you’ll represent BBB professionally, protect confidential information, and follow established procedures and brand guidelines.

What You’ll Bring:

Strong organization, attention to detail, and dependable follow-through.

A friendly, professional communication style and confidence making business calls and sending emails.

The ability to juggle assignments, meet deadlines, follow established processes, and work with limited supervision.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, especially spreadsheets, and a willingness to learn new systems.

A cooperative attitude, sound judgment, and a willingness to pitch in.

A high school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or administrative training is a plus.

Experience in office administration, customer service, event support, retail, nonprofits, or membership organizations is preferred.

A Few Practical Details:

You must be available to work in the office three days per week and have reliable internet and a professional workspace for two work-from-home days per week.

A valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable personal transportation are required for local errands and event travel. Mileage is reimbursed according to BBB policy.

Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend event support is required, with advance notice whenever possible.

The role combines seated office work with active tasks, including standing, walking, bending, packing, and loading. You must be able to lift and carry event supplies weighing approximately 35 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
