Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Fort Rucker, Alabama in Lyster Army Health Clinic within the Logistics Division. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments from commercial and military carriers, verifying all containers and reconciling contents with shipping documents and purchase orders.
  • Identify and report shortages, overages, damages, or other discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor and appropriate office personnel.
  • Store incoming materials in designated locations or prepare issue documentation for items requiring immediate distribution to customers.
  • Sign for all incoming shipments and coordinate directly with customers to schedule pick-up or delivery of issued items.
  • Conduct cyclic and annual warehouse inventory counts and ensure accuracy of stock records.
  • Update and maintain storage locations in coordination with the supervisor and enter all changes into the warehouse information management system.
  • Operate motor vehicles up to a 23,000-pound gross vehicle weight, equipped with hydraulic lift gates and a 2-speed/10-gear transmission, to transport materials and supplies.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience in the following: receiving and unloading shipments; checking items against basic documentation; moving materials using hand trucks or forklifts; organizing items for storage; and assisting with loading and securing cargo. I can enter or update basic inventory location information in the Joint Army Medical Management Information System or similar systems; follow established procedures for storing and issuing materials; and perform routine operator checks on vehicles. I report discrepancies or damaged items to appropriate personnel. I work under normal supervision, where tasks are reviewed during progress or upon completion to ensure proper performance. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Work requires standing, bending, walking, stooping, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 60-70 pounds. Receives assistance from other materials handlers when moving items over 70 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in areas which may be hot, cold , or drafty. Occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions and possible injury from falling or dropped stock when loading or unloading vehicles.
