Job Summary

The Measurement Technician performs various tasks related to the measurement of oil and gas production, transportation, and quality. The Measurement Technician works in the field and in the office, using specialized equipment and software to collect, analyze, and report data on the volume, composition, and quality of oil and gas. This position maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots measurement devices and systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the installation, operation, maintenance, and calibration of various types of measurement equipment, such as meters, provers, samplers, analyzers, transmitters, and recorders.

Assist in the monitoring and verify the accuracy and quality of oil and gas measurement data, using electronic flow measurement (EFM) software, gas chromatographs, and other tools.

Perform periodic testing, calibration, and validation of measurement devices and systems, following standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of measurement activities, such as meter readings, test results, volume calculations, and quality analyses.

Coordinate and communicate with production operators, marketers, pipeline companies, and regulatory agencies on measurement-related matters, such as oil and gas allocation, custody transfer, quality specifications, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma (or GED).

Familiar with measurement principles, instrumentation and control systems used in the oil and gas industry.

Basic understanding of calibration and testing equipment.

Valid Driver’s License with acceptable MVR.

Ability to pass a respiratory fit test, if applicable to route/location.

Ability to work nights and weekends.

An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of one (1) year of oil field operational or measurement experience preferred.

Relevant technical certification – ISA, API, NICET, CMVP or OSHA.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for an extended period of time.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time.

Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.

Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions.

Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance.

Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges.

Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects.

Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities.

Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in the field, hazardous chemicals, and hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required.
