- Evaluate pressure-containing and rotating equipment designs against customer requirements, applicable codes, and internal standards.
- Use finite element analysis and hand calculations to assess stress, strain, fatigue life, natural frequencies, and dynamic stability.
- Review design changes and determine their impact on product integrity, performance, manufacturability, and cost.
- Prepare clear engineering calculations, reports, and customer documentation, including ASME code documentation when required.
- Review customer specifications and supplier technical submissions for mechanical design acceptability.
- Participate in design reviews, root cause analyses, quality audits, and corrective-action activities.
- Communicate analysis findings, risks, and recommendations with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Support product improvements, research and development projects, and initiatives that improve analysis tools, processes, and standardization.
Required Qualifications
- Nuclear industry experience, including familiarity with the engineering, quality, documentation, and design-control expectations for nuclear applications.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Ability to perform structural mechanical analysis using sound engineering judgment, including hand calculations and engineering estimates.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly in English and collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Experience performing structural, thermal, vibration, fatigue, and rotor dynamic analysis.
- Experience analyzing rotating equipment, such as pumps, seals, valves, turbines, skids, or related support equipment.
- Experience using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or similar software.
- Experience using 3D modeling tools, such as SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with ASME Section III and Section VIII, Divisions 1, 2, and 3.
- Experience preparing engineering reports, reviewing customer specifications, and supporting technical discussions with customers and suppliers.
- Knowledge of pump, seal, valve, or hydraulic-system design.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Experience with product development, root cause analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous-improvement initiatives.
