Engineering Intern

Role Purpose / Mission

The Engineering Intern supports the engineering team in improving manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and overall operational efficiency. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while contributing to real-world projects that align with Webco’s commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• •Assist engineers with process improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
• •Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for manufacturing performance metrics
• •Create and update technical documentation, standard work instructions, and drawings
• •Participate in troubleshooting equipment and process issues alongside engineering and maintenance teams
• •Assist with time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity evaluations
• •Support capital projects, including equipment installation, layout planning, and commissioning activities
• •Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and quality
• •Observe and document current processes to identify opportunities for improvement
• •Maintain organized project files, reports, and engineering documentation
• •Participate in continuous improvement efforts and team meetings

Required & Preferred Qualifications

• Required:
• •Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field)
• •Basic knowledge of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques
• •Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• •Strong willingness to learn and work in a manufacturing environment

• Preferred:
• •Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience
• •Exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
• •Familiarity with manufacturing processes or industrial environments
• •Experience with data analysis tools or basic programming

Typical Physical Demands

• •Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• •Frequent use of a computer and standard office equipment
• •Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
• •Ability to access manufacturing areas, including climbing stairs or ladders
• •Visual acuity to review data, drawings, and equipment

Typical Working Conditions

• •Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment
• •Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment when in plant areas
• •Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational environments
• •Close interaction with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
• •Work performed under supervision with increasing responsibility over time
