Mechanical Inspector I / 2nd Shift

Description

SUMMARY

The Mechanical Quality Inspector I use basic metrology equipment to verify that parts meet drawings and specifications. Responsibilities also include writing nonconformance reports, process transactions in the ERP system, and performing visual inspections.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• •Keep work area organized and clean
• •Follows visual management rules
• •Completes paper inspection records, electronic records, and other relevant process steps
• •Basic understanding of relevant QMS documents
• •Able to read mechanical drawings to determine nominal dimensions and tolerances
• •Able to accurately use the following inspection equipment: caliper, standard tolerance, and tight tolerance (Deltronic) gauge pin, thread gage, and angle gage
• •Evaluate cosmetic flaws and accurately to determine conformance of parts
• •Can write basic nonconforming reports. Consults higher level inspectors before finalizing the report
• •Laser micrometer for tight tolerance pin calibration
• •Operate Keyence Optical system

Requirements

REQUIRED

• •HS Diploma or equivalent
• •Technical background or aptitude
• •1 year experience in a manufacturing environment

DESIRED

• •Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
• •Some knowledge of GD&T drawing callouts (know the symbols and what they mean
• •Can operate one type of automated test equipment (Mitutoyo CMM, Zeiss CMM, or Amada Fabrivision)
• •Able to accurately use the profilometer
• •Able to accurately use a drop gage
• •Be open to constructive feedback from senior inspectors and leaders
