Millwright | Cleveland, OH | $30 - $50/hr Contract | Contract-to-Hire |
Mural Group is partnering with a long-established Cleveland waterfront shipyard to place 3 Millwrights on a contract-to-hire basis. This is hands-on mechanical overhaul and installation work on marine propulsion systems, shipboard machinery, and auxiliary equipment aboard tugs and vessels undergoing construction and repair. If you have experience with shaft alignment and mechanical installation in a heavy industrial or marine environment, this role is built for your background.
What You Will Do
Install and repair pumps, motors, main propulsion and auxiliary generators, propellers and shafting, bearings, compressors, and hydraulic units.
Perform shaft alignment on main shaft and rudder stock lines, stern tube and strut bearing lines, and execute final alignment of pumps, motors, reduction gears, and main engines independently.
Dismantle, repair, replace, and reassemble machinery; safely rig, lift, and set heavy equipment aboard vessels.
Install below-deck auxiliary equipment including evaporators, heaters, pumps, condensers, and boilers and connect associated piping.
Set benchmarks for main engines and marine gears; assist during dock and sea trials.
Set up and operate boring bars, portable air drills, grinders, and rigging equipment.
Install hydraulic equipment, perform light-off, and test to completion.
What You Bring
At least 3 years of experience as a Millwright, Marine Mechanic, or Machinist in a heavy industrial or marine environment.
Shaft alignment experience using dial indicators or laser alignment tools is a strong differentiator.
Ability to read marine blueprints, specifications, manuals, and change orders.
Comfort working in confined spaces, on stairs and ladders, crawling and crouching aboard vessels, and outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
Overtime and weekend availability as needed.
Bilingual Spanish is an advantage given the team’s workforce composition.
