General Description

The purpose of this class is to operate spray trucks in a safe manner while applying pesticides for mosquito control.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• •Operates a spray truck in an assigned area.
• •Maintains and performs safety inspections of assigned vehicle and equipment.
• •Refills tank with chemicals as needed.
• •Cleans tank internally and externally.
• •Cleans and maintains shop, garage and hangar; sweeps, waxes and mops floors.
• •Cleans airplanes as assigned.
• •Assists in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• •Obtains landing rate counts for mosquitoes before and after nightly sprayings.
• •Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• •Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• •No experience required.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

• •Requires Texas Department of Agriculture non-commercial pesticide license within six months of employment.
• •Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
