About the role

Job Summary

Under indirect supervision and following JWCE’s Standard Operating Procedures, assembles and wires electrical motor control panels, enclosures, and related control assemblies. Reads and follows electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical layouts, bills of material, and work instructions to complete assigned work safely, accurately, and to established quality and production standards and finally assist in system testing when required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• •Performs essential wiring of control panels used in monitoring and controlling electric motors & hydraulic power packs.
• •Performs final quality assurance of all series controls in accordance with company practices, and UL, NEMA, NEC and CSA requirements.
• •Assists QA technicians with basic inspection and testing of all model control panels.
• •Adheres to safety standards of facility.
• •Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
• •Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• •Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• •Assemble electrical control panels and enclosures according to mechanical layouts, electrical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• •Install DIN rail, wire duct, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, relays, contactors, power supplies, disconnects, transformers, PLC/I/O components, and other electrical components.
• •Measure, mark, drill, tap, cut, and prepare panels and enclosures for component installation when required.
• •Cut, strip, terminate, label, and route wires according to electrical drawings and company workmanship standards.
• •Perform proper wire crimping, ferruling, lug installation, and terminal connections using the correct tooling.
• •Verify components and materials against the BOM, pick list, drawings, and job documentation before and during assembly.
• •Identify and report missing, damaged, incorrect, or nonconforming components and drawing discrepancies.
• •Perform basic point-to-point and continuity checks as required.
• •Inspect completed work for workmanship, wire routing, labeling, component placement, and general conformance to drawings.
• •Make approved wiring or assembly corrections identified during inspection or testing.
• •Maintain accurate job documentation and record completed work as required.
• •Follow established procedures for quality, safety, ESD, tool control, and material handling, as applicable.
• •Maintain an organized and clean workstation using established housekeeping/5S practices.
• •Properly care for hand tools, power tools, crimpers, torque tools, and test equipment.
• •Work with other assemblers, technicians, engineering, quality, and supervisors to resolve production issues.
• •Support department production schedules and communicate problems that may affect job completion.
• •Assist with training new employees on basic assembly practices, workmanship standards, safety procedures, and shop processes when needed.
• •Perform rework and modifications according to approved drawings or instructions.
• •Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Experience, Education & Skills:

Required: High School Degree

Desirable: 2-year Vocational Certificate in HVAC, Electrical, or Electronics is a plus.

• •Previous electrical control panel assembly, electrical wiring, or related manufacturing experience is preferred. Equivalent hands-on technical training may be considered.
• •Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical layouts, bills of material, and written work instructions.
• •Basic knowledge of common electrical control components and their purpose is preferred.
• •Ability to safely use standard panel-shop tools, including wire strippers, cutters, crimpers, ferrule tools, torque tools, drills, taps, and other basic hand or power tools.
• •Ability to use a digital multimeter for basic continuity and point-to-point verification when trained and authorized.
• •Basic understanding of wire sizes, terminal connections, component identification, and electrical control circuits.
• •Ability to recognize and communicate material, drawing, wiring, and assembly discrepancies.
• •Strong attention to detail, quality, and workmanship.
• •Ability to follow instructions, work independently on assigned tasks, and cooperate effectively with the production team.
• •Willingness and ability to assist with training new employees when needed.
• •Ability to use wire strippers, crimpers, ferrule tools, torque tools, drills, taps, and other standard panel-shop tools.
• •Basic understanding of wire gauges, terminal connections, component identification, and electrical control circuits.
• •Ability to use a digital multimeter for basic continuity and point-to-point verification.
• •Ability to follow written work instructions and established workmanship standards.
• •Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize drawing, material, and assembly discrepancies.
• •Ability to work independently while also supporting team production requirements.
• •Willingness and ability to assist with training new employees when necessary.

Basic Function:

Work is performed within established drawings, procedures, work instructions, safety requirements, and departmental guidelines. The employee is expected to stop and seek clarification when drawings, materials, instructions, workmanship requirements, or safety conditions are unclear or appear incorrect. Changes to approved designs or specifications require authorization from the appropriate supervisor, Engineering, or Quality function.

Physical and Work Requirements Ability to stand and work at an assembly station for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Use appropriate material-handling equipment or team lifting for heavier or awkward items.Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with wiring, fastening, crimping, drilling, and assembly work.Ability to safely use required PPE and work around typical manufacturing and panel-shop hazards.Employees may perform only energized electrical testing or other specialized testing for which they have been trained and authorized.
