  • Internal growth opportunities

What You’ll Do

As a Multi-Craft Maintenance Electrician, you’ll help keep manufacturing equipment safe, reliable, and available for production.

You’ll:

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on industrial production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair 24V–480V electrical systems and safety circuits
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, including Rockwell PLCs
  • Work with VFDs, HMIs, motor-control systems, servos, and process instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot photo eyes, proximity sensors, and other industrial sensors and controls
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to identify problems before they cause downtime
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete unplanned repairs
  • Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose motors, drives, controls, and other production-equipment components
  • Read and interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical drawings, prints, and schematics
  • Use diagnostic information to determine the cause of equipment failures
  • Document completed maintenance and repair work
  • Communicate equipment status, problems, and repair needs clearly to Production and leadership
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency
  • Follow established electrical, maintenance, and plant safety procedures

Requirements

You Could Be a Great Fit!

This is a skilled industrial maintenance position. We’re looking for someone who can do more than replace a failed component—you should be able to troubleshoot the system and determine why it failed.

You could be a strong fit if you:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have industrial electrical and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understand how manufacturing equipment and processes operate
  • Can troubleshoot 24V–480V electrical systems
  • Understand PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Can explain and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, motor controls, servos, and instrumentation
  • Can troubleshoot industrial sensors, including photo eyes and proximity sensors
  • Can read electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Have a working understanding of mechanical systems
  • Are comfortable troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
  • Can systematically diagnose equipment failures
  • Communicate clearly with operators, technicians, engineers, and supervisors
  • Can work independently when responding to equipment problems
  • Take electrical and manufacturing safety seriously

Your Technical Toolbox

Industrial Electrical • 24V–480V Systems • Rockwell PLCs • VFDs • HMIs • Motor Controls • Servos • Instrumentation • Safety Circuits • Sensors • Pneumatics • Hydraulics • Mechanical Systems • Schematics • Preventive Maintenance

You don’t need to be the world’s leading expert in every one of them. You do need a strong electrical foundation, practical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to understand how these systems work together.

What Success Looks Like

Successful Multi-Craft Maintenance Electricians:

  • Put safety first
  • Diagnose equipment problems systematically
  • Restore equipment safely and efficiently
  • Identify the actual cause of failures rather than repeatedly treating symptoms
  • Complete preventive maintenance consistently
  • Recognize developing equipment problems before they become breakdowns
  • Read schematics and use diagnostic information effectively
  • Communicate clearly with Production when equipment is down
  • Document repairs and maintenance work accurately
  • Share technical knowledge with teammates
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability
  • Help reduce repeat failures and unplanned downtime
  • Leave equipment safe and ready for Production

More Than Fixing What Breaks

A strong maintenance team doesn’t spend every shift reacting to breakdowns. The goal is to understand our equipment well enough to find problems earlier, identify root causes, and make improvements that keep those problems from coming back.

You’ll work alongside Production and Engineering to understand equipment performance, troubleshoot difficult problems, and identify opportunities to make our manufacturing operation safer and more reliable.

That means your impact goes beyond the repair you make today.

Build Your Technical Skills

Working in advanced manufacturing means working with a broad range of equipment, controls, and technologies.

You’ll have opportunities to strengthen your expertise in industrial controls, automation, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical systems, equipment reliability, and preventive maintenance while learning the specialized equipment used in Elmet’s manufacturing processes.

Elmet also offers tuition assistance and internal growth opportunities to support continued technical and career development.

This Is Hands-On Industrial Maintenance

You’ll spend much of your time on the manufacturing floor troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining industrial equipment. You should be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods, working around operating machinery, accessing equipment as needed to complete repairs, performing repetitive physical tasks, and lifting up to 50 pounds when required.

Required PPE and electrical safety procedures must be followed at all times.
