The Role

Your role

As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the operational delivery and continuous improvement of enterprise network security services. You will manage firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS technologies, segmentation controls, cloud network security, vulnerability remediation, and security incident response activities across a complex managed services environment.

You will collaborate closely with network, cloud, systems, and security teams to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant operations. Success in this role is demonstrated through strong security posture, resilient services, effective incident response, and disciplined operational governance.

What you will do

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain enterprise firewall, VPN, IPS/IDS, and network security technologies.
  • Implement approved security policy, firewall, segmentation, and VPN changes.
  • Support threat monitoring, incident triage, containment, and investigation activities.
  • Manage vulnerability remediation, compliance findings, and audit actions.
  • Support cloud network security services and landing zone controls.
  • Maintain system configurations, documentation, evidence, diagrams, and operational records.
  • Monitor performance, availability, capacity, and resilience of security platforms.
  • Develop automation, orchestration, and operational improvements that enhance service quality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, carriers, and client stakeholders on service delivery activities.

Who You Are

Required skills and experience

  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise firewall, VPN, IPS/IDS, NAT, and network security technologies.
  • Strong understanding of routing, segmentation, high availability, application flows, and network security principles.
  • Experience implementing controlled changes with governance, testing, rollback, and validation procedures.
  • Ability to analyze security events, investigate security incidents, and coordinate remediation activities.
  • Experience working with incident, change, problem, audit, and service reporting processes.
  • Ability to support planned after-hours activities, incidents, and resilience exercises.

Preferred skills and experience

  • Experience across multiple firewall vendors such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with cloud network security, remote access, anti-DDoS, and SIEM platforms.
  • Network security automation experience using scripting, APIs, or orchestration tools.
  • Relevant security, networking, or cloud certifications supported by practical experience.
  • Experience working in enterprise managed services or highly regulated environments
