Responsibilities:

The Administrative Director serves as the chief operating leader for the NeuroHealth Institute (NHI), a newly formed multidisciplinary institute uniting the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and adjacent departments under a shared mission: to transform neurological care from reactive sick care to proactive well care, and to establish a nationally recognized center of excellence in clinical neuroscience and research.

Reporting directly to the NHI Director, the Administrative Director is a core member of the NHI governance structure and Executive Committee. This individual provides strategic and operational leadership across all administrative, financial, and programmatic functions of the Institute. The Administrative Director works at the intersection of departments, breaking down traditional silos to create a seamlessly integrated institute that delivers on its clinical, research, education, and community-impact missions.

This role requires a seasoned healthcare administrator with deep experience in academic medical center operations, cross-departmental program building, strategic planning, financial modeling, and change management. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader comfortable operating in a matrixed environment, partnering with department chairs and program administrators, division chiefs, faculty leaders, strategic planners, external consultants, health system executives, and philanthropy and marketing professionals.

  • Essential Functions:
  • Institute Formation & Governance
  • Serve as a standing member of the NHI Executive Committee and participate actively in the governance structure of the Institute.
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of building and maintaining the NHI, including organizational design, policy development, operational infrastructure, and cross-departmental integration.
  • Partner with strategic planners and external consultants to design and implement the governance and operations framework for the NHI, ensuring alignment with the Institute's strategic plan and the broader health system's goals.
  • Establish administrative processes, reporting structures, and communication channels that promote transparency, accountability, and collaboration across all NHI-affiliated departments and divisions.
  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison between the NHI and University health system leadership, ensuring institutional alignment and executive-level support for the Institute's mission.

Strategic Planning & Cross-Departmental Integration

  • Work in close collaboration with the individual departmental Program Administrators of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and adjacent departments to align departmental operations with NHI-wide priorities while respecting departmental autonomy.
  • Partner with the Operations Leads of each of the NHI's Strategic Pillars (Clinical Excellence, Research & Innovation, Education & Training, Community Engagement, and Wellness & Prevention) to ensure administrative support, resource allocation, and operational execution of pillar-specific initiatives.
  • Drive the cultural and operational shift from siloed departmental structures to an integrated institute model, fostering shared identity, joint decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Coordinate with strategic planners and consultants on an ongoing basis to refine the NHI strategic plan, track milestones, and adapt operational priorities as the Institute matures.

Clinical Service Line Development

  • Oversee the administrative development and build-out of the NHI clinical service line, working across departments and with clinical leadership to design patient-centered, integrated care pathways.
  • Collaborate with health system operations, ambulatory, and inpatient leadership to determine space, capacity, staffing, and technology needs for the NHI Hub (primary site) and Spoke (satellite/affiliate) locations.
  • Support the design and implementation of care delivery models that reflect the NHI's commitment to moving from episodic sick care to longitudinal well care, including prevention, early detection, chronic disease management, and neurorehabilitation programs.
  • Ensure that clinical operations infrastructure—scheduling, referral management, quality reporting, patient experience—is coordinated across all NHI-affiliated sites and services.

Research Program Administration

  • Work closely with the NHI Research Administrative Director to build out and support clinical research programs across the Institute, including clinical trials infrastructure, translational research operations, and research compliance.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental research collaboration by removing administrative barriers, streamlining shared resource access, and supporting joint grant and contract administration.
  • Support the development of research core facilities, shared data platforms, and biobank resources as outlined in the NHI strategic plan.

Financial Planning & Business Operations

  • Partner with strategic planners, external consultants, and departmental finance teams to develop a comprehensive long-term business plan and financial model for the NHI.
  • Work with departmental finance leaders and the NHI Director to develop, manage, and monitor the annual operating budget for the Institute, including revenue projections, expense management, and fund flow models.
  • Analyze and project space and capacity needs across the Hub-and-Spoke network, incorporating growth assumptions, programmatic expansion, and capital requirements.
  • Oversee development of financial dashboards and reporting tools that provide the NHI Director and Executive Committee with timely, actionable data on Institute performance.
  • Identify and pursue operational efficiencies, shared services opportunities, and revenue enhancement strategies across the Institute.

Marketing, Philanthropy & External Relations

  • Collaborate with the University's Marketing and Communications teams to build and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy for the NHI, elevating the Institute's brand locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Work with the Development Office to design and execute a philanthropy strategy that supports the NHI's programmatic and capital priorities, including major gifts, grateful patient programs, and foundation partnerships.
  • Support the NHI Director in external relations activities, including community engagement, industry partnerships, and national positioning efforts aimed at establishing the NHI as a standout program.

Human Resources & Talent Development

  • Oversee administrative staffing for the NHI central office, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
  • Partner with departmental leaders to ensure that faculty and staff recruitment, retention, and development strategies align with NHI growth plans.
  • Foster a culture
