Summary

Provides occupational therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, and related documentation and communication, in order to increase the patients’ functional independence.

• •Assesses the needs of the patient using evaluation tools and clinical observations
• •Develops treatment plans, including goals, and methods to achieve identified goals
• •Provides goal directed treatment consistent with current OT practice standards and/or ensures that OTAs deliver goal-directed services appropriately
• •Selects and uses learning strategies to share occupational therapy treatment choices and outcomes with patients, family, care team and consumers
• •Effectively uses available information sources to report therapy activities and patient performances
• •Promotes growth and development while evaluating performance and maintaining standards of assigned individuals
• •Authorized to have access to medications within their scope of practice
• •Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training :

• •Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited academic institution
• •Master’s degree preferred
• •Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina

Work Experience :

New graduate or experienced clinicians considered

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :

• •Professional competency as a general practitioner of OT as defined by certification and licensure
• •Ability to select age appropriate functional goals and treatment techniques for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
• •Interpersonal skills that promote cooperative patient and peer behavior
• •Accurate written and verbal English

Physical Requirements :

• •Ability to communicate orally, read, write, hear, and visually assess patient status
• •Ability to utilize proper body mechanics when examining or delivering care
• •Ability to transfer and transport patients of various body weight and composition
• •Ability to stand, bend, stoop, lift, turn, twist, sit and walk frequently
• •Ability to demonstrate proper use of and manipulate equipment
