Job Summary

The OPS Sport Clubs First Responder serves as a First Responder during Sport Club home competitions and events.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Attend to all injured participants by following basic First Aid and CPR protocols and remove athletes from play if necessary.
  • Provide first aid/emergency care and on-site injury evaluations during competitions and events.
  • Call or direct someone else to call 911 if injury occurs beyond your scope of practice.
  • Complete Accident, Incident, and Event Reports after each event supervised.
  • Be aware of where emergency exits, bathrooms and AED’s are located.
  • Responsible for keeping all certifications current.
  • Check facility for safety hazards; report any hazards to appropriate authority and take immediate action if necessary.
  • Assist with setting up and breakdown of events held on campus, including supplying water/ice.
  • Answer questions from spectators and visiting teams to the best of your availability.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • American Red Cross Professional Rescuer First Aid and CPR/AED certified.
  • Up-to-date EMT, EMT equivalent, or higher certifications and licenses.
  • Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations in a calm manner.
  • Available to work nights and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Firm understanding of/activate Emergency Action Plans.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures consistently.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
