As part of the Optical Component Test Engineering team, you will develop and maintain automated test solutions used in manufacturing environments. Responsibilities span both hardware and software, ranging from test instrument selection to the development of automated test applications utilizing those instruments. This role provides an opportunity to directly influence product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Support manufacturing by troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing automated test systems for optical components.
- Provide technical expertise in the selection of test instrumentation and the design of test stations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product yield, test time reduction, and cost optimization.
- Support failure analysis activities, root cause investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions for components, subsystems, and customer returns.
- Lead the transfer, deployment, and ongoing support of test systems at manufacturing partner sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in optical testing, preferably in a fiber-optic environment.
- Experience with MATLAB and/or Python.
- Experience using test instruments such as Variable Optical Attenuators (VOA), Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSA), Network Analyzers (PNA), and similar equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience developing automated test systems and software for manufacturing environments.
- Solid understanding of optical component testing methods and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of ownership and accountability.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, primarily in Asia.
- Experience implementing yield improvement initiatives through data analysis.
The annual pay range for this position is $66,800 - $106,800 CAD
Au sein du groupe d’ingénierie de test des composants optiques, vous développerez et maintiendrez l’automatisation de tests en production. Les responsabilités sont à la fois matérielles et logicielles, allant de la sélection des instruments jusqu’à la programmation de tests automatisés à l’aide de ces instruments. Comment vous aurez un impact :
- Soutenir la fabrication en diagnostiquant, en maintenant et en optimisant les systèmes de test automatisés pour les composants optiques.
- Fournir une expertise technique pour la sélection des instruments de test et la conception des stations de test.
- Favoriser l’amélioration continue du rendement des produits, la réduction de la durée des tests et la diminution des coûts.
- Soutenir les analyses de défaillance, l’identification des causes fondamentales et la mise en œuvre d’actions correctives pour les composants, sous-systèmes et retours provenant de clients.
- Diriger le transfert, la mise en service et le soutien continu des systèmes de test auprès des partenaires manufacturiers.
Caractéristiques requises :
- Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en génie physique, en génie électrique ou en génie électronique.Expérience préalable en matière de tests optiques, de préférence dans le domaine de la fibre optique
- Expérience en MATLAB et/ou Python
- Expérience dans l’utilisation d’instruments de test tels que les atténuateurs optiques variables (VOA), les analyseurs de spectre optique (OSA), les analyseurs de réseau (PNA), etc.
- Excellentes aptitudes à la communication écrite et orale en anglais et en français.
Caractéristiques Souhaitées :
- 3 ans d’expérience dans le développement de systèmes et de logiciels de test automatisés pour des environnements de production.
- Bonne compréhension des méthodes d’essai de composants optiques et des processus de fabrication.
- Excellentes aptitudes en analyse, communication et résolution de problèmes, avec un grand sens des responsabilités.
- Disponibilité à voyager jusqu’à 10 % du temps, principalement en Asie.
- Expérience dans la mise en œuvre d’initiatives d’amélioration du rendement à l’aide de l’analyse de données.
La fourchette de rémunération annuelle pour ce poste est de 66,800 $ à 106,800$ CAD.
