Job description

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Asset Finance (Shipping) practice in Singapore. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team on a broad range of ship finance and offshore transactions, working closely with fee earners across the practice.

The Role

Drafting and preparing finance documents, corporate authorisations, legal opinions and other ancillary financing documents

Registering and deregistering charges with the relevant registries

Liaising with clients, foreign counsels, flag state registries and other relevant stakeholders

Proof-reading, formatting and cross-checking documents for accuracy and consistency

Checking and preparing conditions precedent reports and closing checklists

Compiling and organising transaction bibles

Assisting with the consolidation and updating of know-how materials, precedent databases and legal research

Skills and Experience Required

Prior experience as a paralegal or legal executive in an asset finance, shipping or banking and finance practice within a law firm is required

Excellent written and spoken English

Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, to facilitate communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and counterparties

Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite and competence in legal research tools

Good academic record

Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage a demanding workload with competing deadlines

A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the initiative to take ownership of tasks

Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to a wide variety of assignments
