Part-time / on-site position available now

The Child Development Center at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish seeks a candidate for a custodial position at our childcare center. Custodians clean the childcare center after closing, starting at 6pm and working until all assigned cleaning tasks are complete. This typically takes 3 to 4 hours per shift. The schedule is five nights per week, Monday through Friday. If you possess attention to detail in cleaning and have previous custodial experience, we encourage you to apply!

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Custodians are tasked with cleaning the childcare facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, breakroom, offices, and other areas. Custodians perform cleaning by sweeping, mopping and polishing all tile and linoleum covered flooring, vacuuming and steam cleaning all carpeted areas, dusting and polishing wooden furniture, dusting windows sills, counters, and baseboards, cleaning and disinfecting rooms, tables, and counters, cleaning and disinfecting the kitchen, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and toilets, restocking paper products and hand soap, removing all trash, cleaning windows and doors, moving chairs, tables, and other furniture for cleaning purposes, and other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish in both your professional and personal life.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
  • Skilled in cleaning rooms and other interior areas
  • Able to replenish cleaning supplies and paper products in restrooms
  • Thorough understanding of maintaining rooms in a clean and presentable fashion
  • Proven record of performing cleaning duties such as dusting, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, picking up, and disposing of trash
  • Thorough understanding of and ability operate cleaning equipment, including walk-behind floor scrubber, carpet cleaner and propane burnisher
  • Ability to appropriately choose and safely use cleaning products and chemicals
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and cooperative approach
  • Able to maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area
  • Friendly and approachable attitude with coworkers and visitors

Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church – College Station, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Positions employed in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church – College Station, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Able to work a 4-hour schedule between the hours of 6pm-10pm, 5 nights a week, Monday through Friday.

Prior custodial experience preferred.

English language skills required.

Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
