Part-Time Faculty - English Composition

Minimum Education :

Master’s degree in the content area or master’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the content area

Preferred Education :

• •Master’s degree in Composition/Writing Instruction – Composition and Basic Writing
• •Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a Reading Endorsement

Required Experience

• •English Composition – 1-2 years of experience teaching first-year Composition
• •Basic Writing – 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental writing
• •College Reading and Study Skills – 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental reading and knowledge of reading theory.

Responsibilities

• •Instruct courses aligned with departmental goals for first-year writing and/or developmental writing/reading.
• •Develop syllabi, assignments, and rubrics that support student learning outcomes.
• •Provide feedback on student assignments through written comments, conferences, and peer review sessions.
• •Assess student performance using formative and summative evaluation methods.
• •Integrate technology and digital literacy into writing instruction (e.g., using LMS platforms, online research tools).
• •Hold regular office hours to support student learning and address individual concerns.
• •Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
