Job Description

Montgomery College Workforce Development & Continuing Education (WDCE) is currently accepting applications for a part-time faculty opening to teach an AWS Certified AI Practitioner course. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated teacher who demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• •Deliver hands-on, skills-based instruction aligned with the AWS Certified AI Practitioner certification exam, course objectives, and current industry standards.
• •Teach adult students on foundational concepts and practical applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning within the AWS ecosystem, including generative AI, foundation models, responsible AI, and common AWS AI services.
• •Prepare students to understand and apply AWS technologies and services relevant to AI solutions, with an emphasis on real-world business and workplace applications.
• •Incorporate hands-on activities, demonstrations, labs, and real-world scenarios to help students develop practical AI skills and prepare for the AWS Certified AI Practitioner examination.
• •Support adult learners with diverse technical experience by presenting complex AI concepts clearly, accessibly, and practically.
• •Stay current with developments in AWS AI services, generative AI technologies, and industry practices to ensure course content remains relevant and up to date.
• •Facilitate courses in-person and/or remotely during weekday evenings or Saturdays.
• •Collaborate with program staff and faculty on curriculum development and updates.
• •Maintain accurate attendance records and submit administrative tasks promptly.
• •Provide students with effective support, communication, and timely feedback.

Required Qualifications:

• •Current AWS Certified AI Practitioner certification or equivalent expertise in AWS artificial intelligence and generative AI technologies.
• •Professional experience working with AWS cloud services, with demonstrated knowledge of AWS AI and machine learning services.
• •Hands-on experience with generative AI, including foundation models, large language models (LLMs), and AI applications.
• •Practical experience using generative AI tools and platforms, preferably including Amazon Bedrock and other AWS services.
• •Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching adult learners.
• •Able to teach in person.

• •Dependable, punctual, and committed to student success.
• •Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
• •Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. * If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of the interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
• •Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Preferred Qualifications:

• •AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer, or another relevant AWS certification.
• •Experience with Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Q, AWS Lambda, and related AWS AI services.
• •Experience teaching or training adult learners in higher education, workforce development, professional development, or corporate training.
• •A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information technology, data science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
• •Experience delivering instruction in hybrid, in-person, and online modalities.
• •Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard).

For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.

Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
