Part-Time Lecturer for DT2005 Lighting and Rendering Pipeline

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-time Lecturer for DT2005 Lighting and Rendering Pipeline. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate course commencing in January 2027.

This course introduces students to the fundamental processes and techniques of lighting and rendering in 3D, and to their role within the computer-generated animation production pipeline. Drawing on examples from photography, film and animation, students learn the principles of lighting design, including colour, shadow and atmospheric lighting, and explore how lighting shapes the tone and mood of a scene. The course also covers materials, shaders and rendering concepts such as global illumination and physically based rendering. Through creative projects and peer and instructor feedback, students create original computer-generated imagery, laying the groundwork for further studies in visual effects and 3D animation.

Candidates should have at least a Masters and/or PhD in Animation, Visual Effects or a related field, with a track record of production and creative practice in 3D lighting, look development or rendering. Any past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Animation or a related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
