About the Team
ACCEL Schools is seeking a passionate and highly qualified Part-Time Library Media Specialist to join the team at Barber Preparatory Academy, in Highland Park, Michigan. Our mission is to provide every student with the resources, skills, and inspiration to succeed—both in the classroom and in life.
As a Library Media Specialist, you will be at the heart of our learning community—cultivating a love of reading, supporting academic success, and integrating technology and library resources into the curriculum. You’ll serve as a teacher, program manager, and instructional partner, while developing research-based practices to promote early literacy and lifelong learning.

Celebrating over 10 years of service to the Highland Park community, the school is known for its welcoming staff and faculty. Barber Prep is part of ACCEL Schools, an established network of public charter schools serving K-12 students throughout the United States since 2014.
About the Opportunity
In this role, you will:
Organize, catalog, and maintain all library materials and resources
Collaborate with teachers to integrate library skills into the curriculum
Foster a welcoming, positive learning environment for all students
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
Incorporate technology to enhance learning and research skills
Participate in school activities, events, and non-instructional programs as needed
Collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience working in diverse, urban school settings preferred
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to supervise and support students across grade levels
Must pass federal and state background checks
