Job Summary:

Under the immediate supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, the Party Attendant supports renters and their groups by setting up, monitoring, and assisting with their event needs to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Directions may be taken from the Facility Manager. This position may work rentals at Weinberg Family Recreation Center, Takiff Center, and Glencoe Beach.

Key Responsibilities include:

Setting up the room.

Maintaining general space cleanliness.

Implementing Park District rules and policies.

Breaking down the room.

Managing rental parties overall.

The Party Attendant position is also responsible for ensuring all fees are paid at the end of the rental. This is a part-time position that is available year-round and typically requires working 10 – 25 hours a month.

Qualifications:

At least 16 years old or older.

At least one year working with the public or in a party-attending setting.

Must successfully complete a criminal background check with satisfactory results; costs covered by the Glencoe Park District.

Certifications and Trainings:

Must possess current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or successfully obtain certification within one (1) month of hire.

Required Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of the philosophy of public recreation and the ability to communicate it effectively to others.

Proven technical proficiency in the responsibilities of the position.

Required Skills:

Must be dependable and flexible, with strong safety awareness and sound judgment.

Must be able to understand and follow rules and instructions.

Must be able to read, write, and organize materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Enforce rules and regulations appropriate to the facility.

Follow directions and instructions; be dependable, punctual, and organized.

Handle all contact with the public (patrons) pleasantly, courteously, and professionally.

Party attendants must remain on duty at the facility during the entire rental.

Ensure the rental room is in good condition and clean.

Party attendants must set up the room before the rental time and break down in their rented space at the end of the rental time.

Assist the group with AV or additional equipment needed.

Follow the instructions given to them by the Recreation and Facilities Coordinator and Facility Manager at all times.

Follow all general rules and regulations applicable to the public.

Attend in-service staff meetings.

Follow, administer, and implement Glencoe Park District policies and guidelines.

Cooperate and assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. This may include the removal of litter or garbage and checking and emptying trashcans before, during, and after rental parties.

Must familiarize themselves with the rental rules and regulations.

Must wear uniform at all times while on duty.

Enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the facility.

Complete a daily checklist and immediately report any accidents or concerns.

Show good safety awareness and judgment. Follow proper safety policies and procedures implemented per the Glencoe Park District Safety Manual, and report any accidents, incidents, or violations to the Recreation and Facilities Coordinator or Facility Manager.

Field and answer patron questions to the best of their ability.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the Takiff Center Attendant position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:

Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

Handle medium-weight materials and equipment requiring limited physical effort, including:

Ability to frequently lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.

Psychological Demands:

To be successful in this position, the employee must be customer service-oriented and able to interact professionally with individuals of varying needs and backgrounds. The ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused when addressing concerns or difficult situations is essential.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. The noise level is generally moderate but may occasionally be loud depending on activities, programs, and facility usage.

Hours:

Due to the very nature of Park District programming, evening, weekend, and some holiday hours are to be expected.

Pay Scale:

This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. The intended starting pay for this position is $15-$20 per hour, with a full pay scale ranging from $15-25 per hour DOQ.

Final compensation will be determined in good faith based on an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications, experience, and the recommendation of the Facility Supervisor or the Facility Manager.
