- Cleans and disinfects patient transport equipment and/or shared hospital equipment before and after use per hospital policy and procedures.
- Adheres to organization’s infection prevention guidelines and practices (e.g., handwashing, PPE use, etc.) to ensure patient and staff safety and reduce the transmission of infections.
- Demonstrates use of AIDET (acknowledge, introduce, duration, explanation, and thank you) at the beginning and end of patient transport.
- Provides patient comfort during transport by positioning the patient and medical equipment properly, applying sheets or blankets for privacy and warmth, and communicating expectations of the process (e.g., “going over a bump”).
