About the role
As a Peer Mentor with NGAGE Northampton, you’ll use your own experiences, strengths and understanding to support other young people accessing our services. You’ll help create a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment where young people feel listened to, respected and able to develop.
Working alongside Aquarius staff, you’ll support group sessions, workshops and activities, encourage young people to get involved and act as a positive role model. This is a great opportunity to develop your own skills and confidence while making a positive difference to other young people.
Key duties
- Welcome young people to the service and help them feel comfortable and included.
- Support staff with group sessions, workshops, events and activities.
- Encourage young people to participate and share their views.
- Promote positive choices, wellbeing and personal development.
- Act as a positive role model for other young people.
- Support awareness campaigns and community activities.
- Gather feedback from young people to help improve our services.
- Work alongside staff to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
- Attend training, supervision and development opportunities.
- Follow safeguarding procedures, maintain confidentiality and uphold appropriate professional boundaries.
About you
We’re looking for a friendly, approachable and reliable young person who is passionate about supporting others. You’ll be patient, understanding and able to communicate with other young people in a supportive and non-judgemental way.
You’ll understand the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and maintaining appropriate boundaries. You’ll be comfortable asking for support when you need it, while also being able to use your initiative when appropriate.
