Description

Pharmacy Technician / Medical Assistant - Medication Support

$20–$24/hour · Full-time · On-site in Buckhead (Atlanta, GA) · Monday–Friday, days

Pharmacy technicians and medical assistants with medication experience: join AICA Orthopedics as a Medication Support Specialist. You'll prepare in-office medications, manage refills, and support our providers in a busy orthopedic and pain-management clinic. No retail hours. Clear path to promotion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One of the following:
  • 1+ year as a pharmacy technician (retail, hospital, clinic, or long-term care), or a completed pharmacy technician program
  • 1+ year as a medical assistant with hands-on medication experience, such as preparing, labeling, or logging medications, managing medication inventory, or supporting injections
  • Able to read prescription directions and abbreviations and calculate quantities and days' supply
  • Experience handling controlled substances and the required documentation
  • Comfortable with an EHR (electronic health record) or pharmacy software
  • Strong attention to detail. You follow every safety step, even when it's busy.
  • Clear, calm communication with patients, nurses, and providers

Preferred

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or certified medical assistant (CMA, RMA, or CCMA)
  • Orthopedic, pain-management, or injection clinic experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

What you'll do

  • Prepare medications accurately: pick, count, label, and check against the order before the provider's final check
  • Read prescriptions and orders, calculate quantities, and catch anything that doesn't match
  • Pause and alert the provider on allergy, reaction, or interaction alerts in the EHR
  • Help with controlled-substance storage, counts, and records, and report any discrepancy right away
  • Keep up with injection-clinic rushes without skipping safety steps
  • Prepare refill requests and manage patient calls, messages, and follow-ups
  • Stock supplies, check expiration dates, and flag low inventory
  • Protect patient privacy at all times (HIPAA)

You'll work under the supervision of our providers. Clinical decisions, such as substitutions, dose changes, and interaction calls, stay with the provider.

Pay and benefits

  • $20–$24/hour, based on experience and certification
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Paid training on our systems and procedures
  • Promotion path to Medication Support Specialist II (e-prescribing support, prior authorizations, inventory management)
