The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to shape the future of engineering enablement by driving the adoption of modern tooling, automation frameworks, DevSecOps practices, and self-service capabilities. You will influence engineering teams across the enterprise, define standards and best practices, and lead initiatives that simplify delivery, strengthen compliance, and accelerate business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions and implementation strategies to drive adoption of standardised engineering tooling, automation patterns, and self-service workflows.
  • Own and continuously enhance the engineering golden path catalogue, ensuring patterns and automation assets remain current, discoverable, and fit for purpose.
  • Drive automation and orchestration adoption across cloud-native and hybrid environments.
  • Partner with engineering, platform, security, and business stakeholders to align tooling investments with strategic priorities.
  • Deliver Centre of Excellence outcomes through both technical leadership and hands-on execution.
  • Define and communicate engineering tooling and automation roadmaps in partnership with senior technology leaders.
  • Embed security, compliance, and governance requirements into engineering platforms and delivery frameworks by design.
  • Design and enable self-service onboarding and lifecycle management capabilities for engineering teams.
  • Act as a trusted SME for engineering tools, DevSecOps, automation, and platform engineering practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement through adoption metrics, stakeholder feedback, and lessons learned.
  • Uplift organisational engineering maturity through standards, communities of practice, coaching, and enablement activities.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of modern engineering tooling ecosystems, platform engineering, DevSecOps, and automation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate, and recommend tooling solutions across diverse engineering environments.
  • Experience influencing engineering practices and driving adoption without direct ownership of platforms or tools.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into practical implementation outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering governance, security, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Experience working in complex enterprise technology environments with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to balance technical depth, commercial considerations, and delivery outcomes.
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience guiding teams, influencing decisions, and driving change through expertise.

Desirable

  • Experience establishing or operating Engineering Centres of Excellence.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, developer platforms, and automation orchestration.
  • Experience implementing developer self-service capabilities and internal developer platforms.
  • Knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and platform engineering practices.
