Platform Engineer (Hybrid) Clearance Required

Description

Phoenix Operations Group is seeking a Platform Engineer to develop, integrate, and support secure infrastructure for cloud and big data applications. Based in San Antonio, Texas, this hybrid role combines software development with hands-on systems engineering, including Linux administration, container orchestration, and infrastructure automation.

The engineer will help turn architectural designs and prototypes into reliable operational capabilities. Responsibilities include integrating open-source technologies with custom software, automating environment setup, and improving existing platforms. The work requires understanding how operating systems, networks, security controls, and applications interact and troubleshooting problems across those components.

Working alongside architects and other engineers, the successful candidate will identify technical issues, evaluate solutions, and carry implementation through to completion. Strong candidates bring practical Python or Go development skills, experience managing Kubernetes environments, and a disciplined approach to building repeatable, maintainable infrastructure. The position offers opportunities to contribute to mission-focused systems while collaborating onsite approximately two days per week, with flexibility to meet program needs.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• •Related bachelor’s degree plus five years of platform engineering or software development experience; related master’s plus three years; or high school diploma/equivalent plus nine years.
• •Python or Go programming and Bash/shell scripting.
• •Strong Linux, networking, and security knowledge.
• •OS deployment/configuration experience using Kickstart, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
• •Kubernetes deployment and administration.
• •Docker/Podman and Helm, Kustomize, Flux CD, or comparable tooling.
• •Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• •Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
• •AWS infrastructure, CI/CD automation, and Agile experience.
• •OS/container hardening and big data platform familiarity.

Customer-directed DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification may be required.
