We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 6-8 years of experience in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability environments. The candidate will be responsible for managing enterprise PostgreSQL databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, availability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL database environments.
Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations.
Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
Implement and support High Availability (HA) and replication solutions.
Perform database capacity planning and storage management.
Troubleshoot database performance issues and conduct root cause analysis.
Implement database security, user management, and access controls.
Support application teams during deployments and database changes.
Automate routine DBA activities using Shell, Python, or PowerShell scripting.
Manage database health monitoring and alerting tools.
Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
Required Skills
6-8 years of experience in Database Administration.
Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL 11/12/13/14/15 and above.
Expertise in:
Database Installation & Configuration
Backup & Recovery (pg_dump, pg_restore, PITR)
Performance Tuning
Query Optimization
Partitioning
Index Management
Vacuum & Analyze Operations
Experience with PostgreSQL Replication:
Streaming Replication
Logical Replication
Failover Management
Strong knowledge of Linux Administration.
Experience with Monitoring Tools such as:
pgAdmin
Prometheus
Grafana
Nagios
Knowledge of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database scripting.
Responsibilities
Preferred Skills
Experience with PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or GCP.
Knowledge of HA solutions such as Patroni, Pgpool-II, or RepMgr.
Containerization experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
Experience with automation scripting (Python, Shell).
Soft Skills
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to manage critical production issues independently.
Strong documentation and coordination skills.
