About the Role

AspenView is seeking a Power BI Consultant for a short-term, fully remote engagement supporting a U.S.-based client. This is a hands-on, client-facing role in which you will work directly with business leadership and technical teams to understand reporting and analytics requirements, translate them into effective BI solutions, and deliver high-quality Power BI work end to end.

The strongest candidate pairs deep Power BI and DAX capability with proven experience building dashboards for executive audiences, along with the communication and consulting skills needed to engage senior stakeholders with confidence. This is a defined project engagement of approximately two to three months rather than a permanent position, and depth in Power BI matters more than breadth across the wider Microsoft data platform.

What You Will Do

Stakeholder Engagement & Consulting

Work directly with client stakeholders to understand business, reporting, and analytics requirements.

Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and executive audiences.

Provide guidance and best practices around Power BI development and implementation.

Solution Design & Development

Translate business requirements into scalable Power BI solutions and data models.

Design, develop, and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations.

Develop advanced DAX calculations and Power Query/M solutions.

Data Modeling & Security

Create and maintain dimensional data models with appropriate relationships.

Configure and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and dynamic hierarchies so data access aligns with user roles.

Data Quality & Technical Collaboration

Analyze and cleanse data, and troubleshoot data-quality or reporting issues.

Partner with technical and engineering teams on data integration, architecture, and reporting requirements.

What You Bring

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

3+ years of relevant BI and data analytics experience, with significant hands-on Power BI work.

Demonstrated executive dashboarding experience — reporting built for and presented to senior leadership, not only operational or team-level reports.

Prior experience working directly with U.S. clients and cross-functional technical teams.

Technical Expertise

Advanced expertise with Power BI and DAX, along with SQL and Power Query/M.

Strong experience with Power BI Service and data modeling.

Working knowledge of dimensional modeling and relational data structures, plus the light data preparation a BI analyst typically encounters — profiling, cleansing, and shaping source data in Power Query. Full ETL or data engineering experience is not required.

Hands-on experience implementing Row-Level Security and dynamic hierarchies.

Consulting Skills

Strong client-facing communication and consulting skills.

Ability to explain technical concepts and present findings to senior business stakeholders.

Engagement Requirements

Must be based in the United States; candidates may be located in any U.S. state.

Must be a U.S. citizen.

100% remote for the duration of the engagement, with an expected duration of approximately two to three months.

Availability to work standard U.S. business hours and collaborate closely with client stakeholders.
