Job Summary
Practice Assistant II – Lung Center
Department: Department of Medicine – Lung Center
Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours, onsite
Compensation: Starting at $20.00 per hour, with increases based on relevant experience

Make a meaningful impact as a Practice Assistant II in the Lung Center. In this fast-paced, patient-focused role, you’ll help create a welcoming and efficient experience for patients while keeping daily practice operations running smoothly.
Working under general supervision, you’ll provide both administrative and patient-facing support, including scheduling, check-in and check-out, patient communication, and office coordination. Responsibilities may vary based on department needs.
What You’ll Do
Schedule patient appointments, maintain records, and support advanced or surgical scheduling as needed.
Welcome patients, assist with check-in and check-out, collect co-payments, and respond to routine questions.
Manage calls, route messages, and coordinate requests involving prior authorizations, prescriptions, test results, and provider questions.
Process billing forms, scan documents into EPIC, and request medical records and laboratory results.
Distribute mail and faxes and prepare routine correspondence.
Serve as an EPIC Super User for scheduling, registration, and billing systems; training is provided.
Help train staff and support schedule management as needed.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
2–3 years of office experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of office operations and administrative procedures.
- Strong phone, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow established processes and work effectively within a team.
