Position Overview

PMR Healthcare is seeking an experienced, hands-on Practice Manager to oversee operations across multiple primary care clinic locations. This position requires a strong combination of clinical healthcare experience and management leadership.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or in a comparable direct patient-care role, along with experience managing clinical teams and healthcare operations.

The Practice Manager will oversee day-to-day clinic operations, staffing, workflow, employee performance, compliance, and operational consistency while partnering with providers, Operations, Administration, Human Resources, and organizational leadership.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate must be comfortable being onsite, traveling between locations, identifying operational issues, coaching staff, and stepping in to support clinic operations when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple primary care clinic locations.

Ensure consistent workflows, staffing, patient flow, and operational standards across assigned clinics.

Lead, supervise, train, coach, and develop clinical and administrative staff.

Monitor staffing needs, scheduling, productivity, performance, and overall clinic efficiency.

Provide hands-on support during staffing shortages, call-outs, onboarding, increased patient volume, and other operational needs.

Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, employee development, performance management, and corrective action processes.

Partner with providers and clinic teams to ensure appropriate resources, communication, and operational support.

Monitor clinic performance, patient satisfaction, quality metrics, audits, and other key performance indicators.

Conduct routine clinic audits and ensure compliance with PMR policies, HIPAA, and applicable healthcare regulations.

Identify operational gaps and implement corrective action and process-improvement plans.

Support new clinic openings, transitions, service expansions, and other organizational initiatives.

Maintain effective communication with providers, employees, clients, vendors, and organizational leadership.

Travel between assigned locations and provide onsite support based on business needs.

Travel & Hybrid Expectations

Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50–65% of the time between assigned clinic locations.

Must be available for occasional short-notice, overnight, or multi-day travel when business needs require.

Must be willing to adjust work schedules to address urgent staffing or operational needs.

Position begins with a minimum of one remote workday per week. Additional remote flexibility may be considered based on performance, reliability, business needs, and the ability to independently manage assigned locations.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of healthcare management or clinical leadership experience.

Prior professional experience as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), LPN, RN, or comparable direct patient-care healthcare role is required.

Demonstrated experience managing or supervising clinical healthcare staff.

Experience overseeing day-to-day operations within a primary care clinic, medical practice, urgent care, occupational medicine, or similar healthcare setting.

Strong understanding of clinical workflows, patient care processes, and medical office operations.

Experience with staffing, scheduling, employee performance, coaching, training, and team development.

Demonstrated ability to work hands-on in a clinical environment and step in to support operations when needed.

Strong problem-solving, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple locations, competing priorities, and changing business needs independently.

Ability and willingness to travel extensively between assigned locations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in primary care, occupational medicine, or urgent care.

Previous multi-site healthcare management experience.

Experience supporting new clinic openings, acquisitions, transitions, or service expansions.

Experience with healthcare compliance, auditing, quality improvement, or regulatory requirements.

Experience with EMR/EHR systems.

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or a related field.
