Join Anglian Water’s Development Services team and play an important role in enabling sustainable growth across one of the UK’s fastest developing regions. Based within our Planning & Capacity team, this role sits at the point where development, infrastructure and environmental responsibility come together.

You’ll support the assessment of new housing, commercial and industrial developments, helping ensure growth is delivered in a way that protects our networks, supports customers and promotes long‑term resilience.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a logical and technical mindset to build commercial experience while contributing to work that directly shapes communities across the region in a sustainable and responsible way.

You’ll be part of a team delivering our pre‑planning service to developer customers, supporting the assessment of proposed developments and helping customers understand how their plans interact with our water and wastewater networks.

This is a varied role combining technical analysis, collaboration and customer engagement. You’ll manage a range of developer enquiries, from smaller or more straightforward sites through to supporting more complex schemes alongside experienced colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assess developer enquiries and pre‑planning submissions across water and wastewater services
  • Support the identification of network, capacity, flooding and environmental risks linked to proposed developments
  • Provide clear, accurate advice to developers, consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Help identify appropriate and sustainable connection options
  • Support early understanding of potential reinforcement requirements
  • Contribute to planning responses that support housing growth and network resilience
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across planning, operations and delivery teams

What does it take to be successful?

We’re looking for someone with a solid technical foundation who enjoys learning, problem‑solving and working with customers as part of a collaborative team environment.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Some experience in the water sector or a related utility, infrastructure or environmental field is also desirable but not essential
  • The ability to understand and interpret technical information and data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills is essential
  • An interest in sustainable and practical engineering solutions
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload with support

  • Customer‑focused and practical in their approach
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across teams
  • Organised, adaptable and open to feedback
  • Curious and motivated to continuously improve
