Job Duties:

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine offers a unique opportunity for a Cardiologist to join a dynamic academic program, with opportunities to create a unique clinical practice and engage in teaching and clinical research at a world-class university.

UW Madison offers outstanding clinical facilities and laboratories offering a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, a full complement of structural heart disease procedures (ASD/PFO closure, mitral repair, TAVR), as well as both pre-clinical and clinical investigational device research. The position will entail a presence at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison and at our partner community-based hospital, Unity Point Health - Meriter.

This position is full or part time, 70%-100%

This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and repeated every four years.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Physicians hired on the Tenure/Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching medical students, residents and fellows.

Cardiovascular Medicine provides faculty with ample opportunities for medical education and scholarship.

Position responsibilities for patient care at UW Health locations, include inpatient cardiovascular medicine service and night call; outpatient cardiovascular services including clinic coverage at Madison based clinics as well as regional site(s) based on the needs of the division; diagnostic cardiovascular testing, including but not limited to, electrocardiograms, ambulatory monitors, transthoracic echocardiography, and a variety of modalities of stress testing and non-invasive imaging.

Negotiable, 12 months

Required Qualifications:

WI medical license by start date of position.

ABIM Board-certified or board eligible in cardiology by start date of position.

Completion of a US internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship by the start date of the position

Preferred Qualifications :

Skills and prior experience in preventive cardiology are preferred. Board certifications in Clinical Lipidology, Hypertension, and/or Obesity Medicine are highly desirable.

Additionally, the candidate will have training in nuclear cardiology or echocardiography, a strong clinical background in preventive cardiology and clinical cardiology, as well as demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching, and a commitment to scholarly achievement. Fellows are encouraged to apply.

For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on Clinical or CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the Clinical or CHS Track.

MD or DO, or equivalent is required
