Description

Viant Traffic Solutions is a family of intelligent transportation systems companies spanning distribution and manufacturing across nearly 40 states, comprising eight operating companies and approximately 415 employees under a single holding company. The Pricing & Portfolio Analyst is the analytical engine behind the enterprise's transition from cost-based bid pricing to market-based internal list pricing.

Today, most prices are built from cost at the moment a bid is prepared. Viant is moving to internal list prices set from market conditions, sales history, bundling needs, and the completeness of our offering, with clear guardrails around discounting. This position works directly with sales, sourcing, and finance leaders across all eight operating companies. The analysis produced in this role shapes what our list prices are, where our margins expand, and which product lines we invest in.

This is a newly created, enterprise-wide position: a greenfield capability to build, executive sponsorship to build it, a direct line from the work to company profitability, and visibility that reaches our private equity sponsor, Warren Equity Partners.

The role is designed to build on existing operations and planning analytics capability. Much of the foundation it requires — ERP master data fluency, product and reporting structure, cost and vendor data, and report automation — is the same foundation that supports production planning and operational reporting today. The position extends that capability from the operational side of the business to the commercial side.

Requirements

Market-Based List Pricing

Build the initial list prices for every business unit from target margins specific to each business, then refine pricing by product as data becomes available.

Apply sales history, win rates, market position, bundling requirements, and offering completeness to pricing recommendations.

Publish approved list prices into enterprise ERP systems, NetSuite and CSI Infor, so that every bid begins from a deliberate market position and estimators discount or mark up from there within their delegation of authority.

Portfolio and Margin Reporting

Build and maintain reporting that shows sales and realized margin by product, category, vendor, and operating company, including price waterfall views.

Build the product hierarchies and margin data that enable FP&A to maintain the shadow P&L by product line and use that reporting to guide pricing decisions. This includes maintaining and extending product configuration tools and product literature, such as configurators and product brochures, as the structural foundation for published list prices.

Roll up data from the unit where money is won or lost, the project and the bid, into aggregate views that identify where pricing needs to move.

Margin Expansion Through Price Actions

Model, support, and track pricing initiatives, including annual increases, tactical adjustments, and carry-through of vendor cost changes.

Measure realization following each price action and interpret aggregate discounting and win rate patterns to recommend the next adjustment, expanding margin while maintaining win rates.

Own the feedback loop that signals when list prices need to change. Sales leadership retains ownership of discount approvals and representative coaching within their delegation of authority.

Strategic Management of OEM Partners

Partner with the sourcing organization to provide the analysis behind line card decisions: which lines to grow, reprice, or exit, and which new lines to add.

Identify vendors where quote-by-quote pricing slows sales teams down and build the business case for negotiated standing pricing.

AI-Enabled Analytics

Use Claude, connected to Viant systems through MCP, on a daily basis to automate price updates, parse vendor contract pricing, accelerate win/loss analysis, and remove manual work from the pricing cycle.

Partner with the AI team at Warren Equity Partners to shorten ramp-up and bring new AI initiatives to Viant.

Set the working standard for how analytics is performed across the enterprise.

Acquisition Integration

Support new acquisition onboarding by establishing list prices as part of the overall acquisition integration plan.

Additional Responsibilities

Handle confidential pricing, cost, margin, and vendor information with discretion.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of enterprise pricing and portfolio objectives.

4. Deliver the aggregate discounting and win rate reporting that guides list price adjustments across the family.

5. Track and report realization on every price action, including carry-through of vendor cost increases.

6. Enable the shadow P&L by product line in partnership with FP&A and put its reporting to work in pricing decisions.

7. Automate recurring price updates and pricing data preparation using Claude and AI tooling.
