This leads to misdiagnosis and treatment delays that result in hundreds of thousands of deaths every year. Aidoc assists clinicians by precisely highlighting diseases directly on medical images, preventing misdiagnosis and ensuring that urgent patients receive the immediate attention they need.

About this role

We’re seeking an exceptional Principal Engineer to shape the technical direction and long-term architecture of Aidoc’s AI-first development tools.

You’ll report to the company’s co-founder and Chief Architect, and drive meaningful change to the whole R&D department, setting standards of how engineering is done well and productively in Aidoc.

In this role, you’ll lead complex, cross-organization initiatives and drive architectural strategy across multiple teams, while staying close to the code and ensuring decisions are grounded in real-world implementation.

You’ll work directly with R&D leadership and all R&D teams to define and build the tools which will make Aidoc’s R&D organization 10x faster and better thanks to the new AI capabilities of the world.

We will work in “startup mode” - close to our users, delivering value in quick iterations, while keeping very high engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Define and drive long-term strategy for AI-first dev tools in collaboration with engineering leadership.

Define, develop, and integrate tools based on the latest AI technologies for the benefit of Aidoc’s R&D department.

Lead company-wide technical initiatives, ensuring alignment across multiple teams.

Lead and formalize engineering best practices around performance, reliability, and observability.

Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve scalability, developer productivity, and overall system robustness.

Requirements

15+ years of professional experience building software systems in Development.

Proven track record in technical leadership roles, delivering complex cross-functional projects.

Deep understanding of architecture, scalability, and operations of an engineering organization delivering enterprise software.

Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent), and modern DevOps practices.

Strong coding skills in one or more modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, Java, C#).

Power user of AI-first development tools (Claude Code / Cursor / other agents / MCP servers etc.)

Strong technical leadership skills - able to align technical directors and executives towards a shared technical vision.

First principles thinking - ability to break down your recommendations to the basic technical truths behind them.

Advantage: experience delivering products to developers / highly technical customers.
