LTPF owns the demand forecasts and long-term plans that drive Amazon's top-line, capacity investments, working capital, and network topology decisions worldwide. Our outputs are reviewed by Stores and Operations leadership up to the CEO level, and they set the terms for billions of dollars in capex. We enable our mission with systems that coordinate inputs across distributed organizations and produce globally optimized plans.

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to own the technical architecture that makes that possible. You will set the engineering direction across unified forecasting, coordinated planning system, and GenAI agentic insights platform. You will drive tech primitives, standardized and auditable outputs, and self-service interfaces.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • 1. Own the technical architecture across systems. Drive simplification and establish the primitives and the migration path for the legacy systems.
  • 2. Set and hold the engineering bar in design reviews across science, engineering and product.
  • 3. Drive AI adoption as engineering infrastructure, including agentic tooling, skills, and spec-driven development practices that change how the org builds, and make the productivity gains measurable.
  • 4. Partner across supply chain functions, operations, and Finance to drive system simplification and efficiency.

Basic qualifications

  • - 5+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • - Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead, or experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • - Experience in an operational environment developing, fast-prototyping, piloting and launching analytic products
  • - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • - Experience leading change in multiple site environments and influenceing those that are not direct reports or within your organization

Preferred qualifications

  • - Experience with forecasting, planning, optimization, or simulation systems in a supply chain, retail, or financial planning context
  • - Experience building data platforms where reproducibility, lineage, and auditability are first-class requirements
  • - Experience building agentic or LLM-based systems in production, and experience driving AI-assisted development practices across an engineering organization
  • - Experience working directly with scientists and economists as primary collaborators
  • - Experience partnering with Finance organizations on systems whose outputs feed financial planning and external reporting
  • - Track record of deprecating legacy systems
