We are looking for a Principal Product Manager, Technical to join the MCCF team and lead product strategy and delivery for the UK and EU. MCF operates in the US, Canada, the UK, EU27, and Japan, with a growing presence in markets such as Mexico and Australia. International markets, led by the UK, EU, and Japan, are growing faster than the US. In this role, you will be responsible primarily for optimizing fulfillment and placement. Fulfillment covers how an order is promised, assigned to a fulfillment center, and delivered. Placement covers where inventory is positioned in the network ahead of demand. You will own the operational reliability and cost reduction goals for MCF's international markets, both of which are tracked as VP-level goals. You will define the international product roadmap, determine which problems MCCF addresses first in these markets, and lead the most complex initiatives directly.
Amazon's Supply Chain Services (ASCS), which includes Multichannel Commerce Fulfillment (MCCF), enables every entrepreneur in the world to reach every customer in the world through every channel they can imagine. With ASCS, merchants can take advantage of fully automated supply chain services that get products from manufacturers to customers around the world, through end-to-end solutions including Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF), Buy With Prime (BwP), Multi-Channel Distribution (MCD), Warehousing & Logistics, and more. These services keep products in stock, deliver faster and more reliable shipping, and significantly lower costs. For over 20 years, Amazon has been empowering small and medium-sized businesses with opportunities to grow. ASCS and MCCF are an exciting next step in our mission to help merchants of all sizes grow their business, whether on Amazon or beyond.
The MCCF product organization is primarily based in the US. Initiatives that extend an existing US product to international markets remain with the US product owner. This role owns initiatives that are specific to international markets, such as enabling off-Amazon merchants to place a single inventory pool across EU27 countries, and initiatives whose scale or complexity exceeds what the US team can take on alongside its own roadmap. You will set the prioritization of international work across the MCCF product organization and partner with US product leaders to align roadmaps.
- Key job responsibilities
- - Define and own the international product roadmap for MCF fulfillment and placement in the UK and EU, including the rationale for sequencing and investment.
- - Own the cost reduction goal for international markets, tracked at VP level. MCF must lower its cost per unit every year through 2029. Placement is the primary lever. Inventory positioned in the region where the order ships costs less to deliver and arrives sooner.
- - Own the operational reliability goal for international markets, tracked at VP level. Marketplaces set shipping and delivery SLAs, and merchants incur penalties when MCF misses them.
- - Lead the international initiatives that are specific to the region or exceed the US team's capacity, from problem definition through launch and adoption.
- - Determine, together with US product leaders, which initiatives extend from the US and which the international team owns, and ensure international requirements are reflected in US roadmaps.
- - Partner with the engineering teams that own placement, forecasting, promise, and fulfillment planning systems. Evaluate design proposals, assess trade-offs, and identify when a decision requires principal engineer review.
- - Author the documents that drive decisions, including PR-FAQs, strategy narratives, and annual planning inputs for international markets. Present regularly to Directors and VPs.
- - Evaluate new international opportunities, such as cross-border fulfillment, and bring recommendations to leadership.
Basic qualifications
- - Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- - Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- - Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering
- - Experience with end to end product delivery
- - Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in transportation and supply chain
