Job Description Summary

As part of the GE Aerospace Digital Technology organization supporting the Defense & Systems (D&S) business, the Principal Technical Product Manager, Data & Platform owns the D&S Palantir Foundry environment and leads delivery across the technical teams that build on it and feed it. This person will own platform health, configuration, access and security markings, and ontology development for the D&S Foundry instance and the shared demonstration environment. This person will also be the program owner for 8+ platform functions (data products, platform support, predictive models, emerging technology, user-facing applications, and fleet data), managing the dependencies between them without owning the teams directly. The role also governs Foundry resources, cost, and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) capacity, and owns the platform's access model, including enrollment of external customers. This is a senior individual-contributor role. It turns the D&S data strategy set by the Chief Technology Office (CTO) into a reliable, governed platform that the Defense and Systems Customer Experience (DSCX) products and our AI roadmap run on.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Palantir Foundry Platform Ownership

  • Own platform health. Keep the D&S Foundry instance available, performant, and correctly configured, and own the platform roadmap that keeps it that way.
  • Run the demonstration environment. Keep the shared Foundry demo environment current, stable, and ready for customer-facing and leadership demonstrations on short notice.
  • Build the ontology. Drive ontology development in step with front-end work in Workshop and Contour, so the data model and the applications on top of it evolve together.
  • Manage the Palantir roadmap. Serve as the primary vendor contact for licensing, product roadmap, support escalations, and new capability adoption.

Palantir Foundry Resource, Cost, and AIP Management

  • Govern platform resources. Oversee compute allocations, ontology volumes, and storage across every Foundry usage account, and partner with the platform teams to keep resources optimized and fully visible.
  • Own cost attribution. Monitor, analyze, and manage platform consumption and cost down to the usage account, project, and ontology level, with proactive reporting and usage controls (FinOps).
  • Manage AIP capacity. Partner with Palantir to manage AIP utilization, usage thresholds, platform limits, and spend, balancing advanced AI capability against cost containment and operational stability.
  • Security, Access Governance, and B2B Enrollment
  • Own the access model. Own the Foundry security posture: design and maintain role-based access controls (RBAC), fine-grained security roles and markings, and scalable access provisioning, so every dataset and application is visible only to the people cleared to see it.
  • Control intangible exports. Define and maintain the strategy for intangible exports (export-controlled technical data shared electronically through the platform) in partnership with Export Compliance.
  • Run customer B2B enrollment. Oversee business-to-business (B2B) onboarding, identity federation, and enrollment workflows so external customers get secure, compliant multi-tenant access.

Cross-Team Platform Delivery and Dependency Management

  • Run the platform as one program. Coordinate delivery across Data Foundry, Platform Support, Insight Engines, Future Tech Labs, Digital Service Delivery, and Fleet Data Hub Support, plus the Data Flow Engine and Cloud & Solutions Design teams in the CTO organization.
  • Own the dependencies. Map, track, and resolve cross-team dependencies, and maintain a single integrated view of the platform roadmap and release plan.
  • Sequence releases. Partner with Platform Support on patch and release management for the D&S Foundry instance so changes land without disrupting users.
  • Bring models into production. Work with Insight Engines to integrate predictive models, machine learning (ML), and simulations into the platform and the applications that use them.
  • Move emerging technology to the platform. Partner with Future Tech Labs to take promising technologies from evaluation and prototype to deployed capability.

Data Products and Platform Strategy

  • Translate strategy into execution. Partner with CTO Architecture & Data to turn the D&S data strategy and technical standards into the DSCX platform roadmap.
  • Centralize critical data products. Work with Data Foundry to model, secure, and publish the data products and semantic layer that DSCX applications depend on.
  • Set the data quality bar. Define data quality, lineage, and governance tagging standards for the platform, and measure against them.
  • Build the foundation for AI. Make sure the data behind TrueChoice Defense (TCD) fleet management and supply optimization, and every AI capability on the DSCX roadmap, is defined, governed, and ready to use.
  • Platform Reliability and Compliance
  • Own the escalation path. Partner with Platform Support on Level 1 through Level 3 (L1-L3) incident resolution and own escalations that cross teams.
  • Keep the platform audit-ready. Drive Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) readiness and vulnerability remediation for the D&S Foundry instance, along with data governance and audit readiness.
  • Partner on infrastructure. Work with CTO Architecture & Data, which owns the Amazon Web Services (AWS) tech stack, the Data Flow Engine, and architecture review, so platform needs are reflected in infrastructure and data delivery decisions.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead without authority. Align 8+ technical teams behind one platform plan through clear priorities, transparent tradeoffs, and credible follow-through.
  • Set the platform standard. Provide principal-level leadership and mentorship across the D&S Digital Technology team for data platform management.
  • Improve continuously. Use FLIGHT DECK, the GE Aerospace lean operating model, to cut toil and shorten delivery cycles. You will need to be AI experienced and know how to use AI agents to help the platform teams deliver more.

Environment

The D&S Foundry instance runs on AWS infrastructure owned by CTO Architecture & Data, with data arriving through the Data Flow Engine from U.S. and international sources. The platform handles export-controlled and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) data, so access controls, security markings, and governance tagging are core to the work. The shared demo environment supports customer-facing and leadership demonstrations alongside the production instance, and external customers access the platform through B2B enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, OR Associate's degree with a minimum of 13 years of professional experience, OR High School Diploma with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in data platform management, technical product or program management, or a related Distinct Area of Work (DAW).

Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience.

Eligibility Requirement:

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

Desired Characteristics:

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry (ontology, pipelines, Workshop, Contour, security markings) or a comparable enterprise data platform (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Working fluency in data modeling, semantic layers, and data governance.
  • Experience managing consumption-based platform cost and capacity (FinOps), ideally Palantir Foundry and AIP.
  • Experience designing RBAC and identity federation (e.g. SAML, OpenID Connect, Microsoft Entra B2B) in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, cloud infra
