About the Role
As a Sterile Processing Tech II , you will be responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing medical instruments and supplies for patient care. You will play a vital role in infection control and patient safety by ensuring all equipment meets the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Decontamination & Sterilization : Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment per AAMI standards.
- Instrument Preparation : Inspect, assemble, and wrap surgical trays and equipment for use.
- Inventory Management : Maintain supply levels and ensure timely distribution to patient care areas.
- Equipment Handling : Operate specialized medical sterilization equipment safely and efficiently.
- Patient Support (Cedar Falls location only) : Transport patients and assist nursing staff with pre-operative procedures.
What You Need to Succeed
- Education : High school diploma or GED required. Specialized training in sterile processing preferred.
- Experience : Minimum 6 months of experience working with surgical instruments or patient care support.
- Skills & Knowledge :
Familiarity with medical terminology and sterilization techniques.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize urgent requests.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs ; push/pull up to 150 lbs .
- Exposure to sterilization equipment, potential infectious materials, and a high-paced hospital setting.
- Must be comfortable working under pressure and following strict safety protocols.
