Job Description

When you’re part of the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do important work, like helping customers in finding cures for cancer, protecting the environment or making sure our food is safe. Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.

How will you make an impact?

You will be part of the Manufacturing Automation Engineering team supporting automation, capital equipment, internal machine-build, and R&D projects across the Single-Use Division.

You will provide procurement and sourcing support for a multimillion-dollar annual portfolio of automation equipment, integrator services, components, fabricated parts, and project materials. You will develop critical supplier relationships, manage commercial and supply risks, support capital investment planning, and help protect the cost, schedule, and execution of high-visibility projects.

What will you do?

Manage sourcing strategies, RFx activities, quotations, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and commercial coordination for automation equipment, components, fabricated parts, and contracted services.

Develop and maintain relationships with automation integrators, machine shops, component suppliers, and other critical vendors.

Support automation equipment and engineering engagements typically ranging from $1M to $10M, including commercial requirements, payment milestones, delivery commitments, and supplier performance.

Evaluate quotations, pricing, commercial terms, supplier capacity, lead times, market conditions, and supply risks to support sourcing decisions.

Partner with Legal, Engineering, and suppliers on contracts, commercial terms, and intellectual property protections.

Maintain material availability through proactive order tracking, supplier communication, expediting, and resolution or escalation of supply, invoice, payment, and delivery issues.

Support supplier identification, evaluation, selection, new vendor setup, and alternate sourcing to improve cost, capacity, responsiveness, and continuity of supply.

Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and project commitments and coordinate corrective actions as needed.

Partner with Engineering and Finance to develop capital investment business cases and Appropriation Requests, including project estimates, financial analysis, quotations, and supporting documentation.

Maintain capital projects in applicable approval systems and coordinate procurement execution following approval.

Coordinate project logistics, receiving, P-card activity, and related procurement processes.

Maintain procurement documentation and standard work to support cross-training and business continuity.

Identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve lead time and supplier performance, mitigate supply risk, and improve overall project execution.

Support departmental safety responsibilities, including Gemba walks, safety activities, training, hazard identification, and assigned follow-up actions.
