  • We are seeking candidates for the Japan ISG Finance team as a Product Controller supporting the Institutional Equity Division. This entry-level opportunity provides exposure to core product control activities, enables contributions to business reporting and process improvement initiatives, and offers the chance to build strong working relationships across trading desks and partner functions.
  • Within the Finance division, Product Controllers collaborate with business units globally to provide management, review, analysis and advisory services related to the Firm's financial and capital resources. This Analyst-level position is part of our Product Control Job Family and is responsible for supporting the integrity of controls, profit and loss reporting, balance sheet reporting and reconciliations, management reporting, and cross-functional product oversight.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • > Collaborate with colleagues in Finance and across the Firm, while developing a practical understanding of the Equity Control function.
  • > Prepare and support recurring daily, weekly and monthly deliverables under the guidance of more experienced team members.
  • > Understand and follow the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; promptly raise discrepancies, control gaps and process issues.
  • > Coordinate with the deployed team in Mumbai, check the completeness and accuracy of assigned deliverables, and escalate questions or exceptions to the appropriate reviewer.
  • > Assist with P&L analytics for Institutional Equity Division businesses, with a particular focus on Cash Equities and Derivatives.
  • > Prepare Revenue and Balance Sheet reports, together with supporting analysis for Finance management and Business Heads.
  • > Partner with the Sales & Trading Desk, Operations, Technology, Market Risk and other Finance groups to investigate data issues and support business requirements.
  • > Assist with month-end close activities, balance sheet substantiation, reconciliations and related control processes, ensuring deliverables are accurate and completed on time.
  • > Contribute to business unit projects through data gathering, documentation, testing, issue tracking and P&L impact analysis.
  • > Identify opportunities to simplify or automate routine processes and enhance the quality and efficiency of financial and regulatory reporting.
  • > Act as a culture carrier by demonstrating the Firm's values, fostering an inclusive environment, actively seeking feedback, and taking ownership of personal development.
  • Qualifications, Skills & Requirements
  • > University degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering or another relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • > Fresh graduates are welcome to apply; prior full-time experience in Product Control or Financial Services is not required.
  • > Basic understanding of accounting, financial markets or financial products, with an interest in Equity products.
  • > Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and an eagerness to investigate and resolve data issues.
  • > Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working with large datasets and spreadsheets; experience with VBA, Power Query, or other automation tools would be advantageous but is not required.
  • > Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, ask questions when needed and work effectively with colleagues across different functions and locations.
  • > Strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • > Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a strong eagerness to learn, with the ability to respond positively to coaching, guidance and constructive feedback.
  • > Internship experience, coursework or other exposure to accounting, financial reporting, capital markets, data analysis or process automation would be beneficial but is not essential.
